The seven accepted were James jScanlan, Clifford O. jfjarry Carlson, John f. L. Hewitt, Joseph wad Ray Blades. v: During the'last meeting ordinance was passed on to cfeate #• planning and zoning commisskim in this village. Hyatt, Kraus, Sarley, Chfld Clawed by Dog ; Despite the efforts of the local authorities, some dogs still run rampant throughout our village. The fact that Swung Joyce Wall was clawed at and had her clothing so torn «y one of these animals that ft hpd. to ,be thrown away, Seems to have mnde no impression on .the parties responsible. It is our sincere hope that this village wfll not have to go through a rabies incident before it does something to protfeet the children from the loose running, non-shot, dogs. Ray Cynowa Resigns The resignation sent to the village board of trustees by Raymond Cynowa was . read fend accepted by the board of trustees on Feb. 13. We understand that Mrs. fCathryn Scanlan, former Lakemoor news correspondent, has been ill of late and we sure hop? that by the time th's issue comes to press she will be feling much better. Get well real quick. Kathryn. Successful Card Party The card and bunco party given by the Lily Lake schoolhouse Mothers' club at the Club Lflymoor last Thursday, Feb. 13, was reported as a rollicking success. Many prizes were awarded and the turnout was wonderful. Refreshments were served. Down With the Flu ...Reports have it that Ted Beahler has been having a pretty rough time of it with the flu. He has lost considerable weight and is just about coughed out. Mommy Beahler is on the list. She's sniffling already. Seems that these two fine folks can't leave the flu bug alone--or is it that the flu bug won't leave them alone. Surprize Visit The weekend of Feb. 1 looked like it was going to be a quipt one in the John Kraus home. Quiet, that is, until the phone rang and Julie came back to the living room with a smile a mile broad on her face., John knew the call was important. The call came from Sheboygan, Wis., and Juliea' sister called to say that the family has been lonesome for the Krauses since they missed them at the holidays. They all came out for the weekend and brought Julie's mother. Julie's sister and brother-in-law are Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Vorath and her mother is Mrs. Yurk. A not so quiet, but oh, so happy, weekend was enjoyed by all. Girl Scouts Troop 441 The girls, of troop 441 enjoyed the evening before Valentine's Day, holding a valentine party in a group. They all turned out at the Brzezinskl home where they played games danced and had refreshments. The girls returned home tired in a glorious sort of way. 8hlp Forty-eight Sailing the seven seas for forty-eight years was S. S. "Andy and Lu Anderson." The sea has been rugged and at times almost unbearable but the ship is built of unending love and has learned to weather many a Storm. The ship was built on St. Valentine's Day and cupld is at the wheel. Only two years remain before the ship will become golden and receive its gilt edge. We're all wishing this ship the best of everything tor the coming years. Congratulations, Andy and Lu: Off to the New House Chet and Gertrude Gullachson left our village on Sunday to begin their residence at their new home in Pistakee Terrace. They leave their daughter and son-in-law behind, but the joy in their hearts tells the younger generation that mom and pop are too happy to worry about a thing right now. They have worked hard and have earned their right to happiness. So long, folks. Let's hear from you through the grapevine sometime. Home for Good! The village is very happy to see another of its sons home from service and happy again in his familiar surroundings. Don Massheimer arrived home on Saturday, Feb. 15, and finds that home never looked so good. Don had been with the United States Army in the Niagara Falls area. Welcome home, Don, and it's sure good to see you around again. of her owni she Knew where her duty lies. Her mother has not been too well lately and Alice almost dreaded leaving there and leaving her mother behind. While Alice was gone her dear neighbor,' Mrs. Booster, gave loving care to the Kowals' twelve year old son 'and Papa Andreas Kiowal did the honors of "batching" it. Like all bachelors he makes a mean fried egg arid doesn't burn the coffee. Alice arrived home on Thursday, Feb. 13. Welcome home, and chin up, gal. Ken?,' Jen O'Leaty, and' Pat Morrison. Well, things always look darkest just before the dawn. Last week the final day came near and Jimmy went about Inviting aH his friends to his party. He knew full well that mommy was not strong enough to ^attend to all the details of a party but. other developments took place which helped him have his party after sill. John Shark of the Tower came forward and offered his spacious dining room just for Timmy and his friends and pro-, ceeded to place the tables in a horseshoe design to wish him luck. Mom baked a beautiful cake and Mr. Shark did the honors of serving the youngsters. The children were treated with balloons, hats, candy, cake, ice cream and coke and had a wonderful time playing games. Among his friends were Debra Kuhlman of McHenry, Janet and Joyce Wall, Gene and James Bolda, Mike Burner of Janesville, Wis. James Johnson of Richmond, and Lorrie Beahler, Mary Margaret and Connie Smith, Diane Winters and Diane Wolf. Jimmy received many wonderful gifts and the party came off with a bang. Girl Scouts Troop 809 The girls of troop 309 have been working on the "My Country" badge. This has been a very difficult badge and in working together the girls expect to accomplish much. They hope to finish in two weeks. On March 3, the Court of Awards will be held. Cub Scouts 1 On Feb. 23, the Cub Scouts will hold their Blue and Gold BanqUet at the Methodist church in McHenry. Louis is actually a Valentine birthday child, but he wished" to celebrate on Saturday so that his friends could be with him for a longer period of time. At his party were Kathy Vetter, Bob and Jimmy Tobias, Dick Bitterman, Ruth and Joey Schmit. Mother prepared a very special treat for his party.--Genuine pizza. And only mom knows how to maj^e that.
