Everyone present was astounded at the talent displayed by the cast Vchich was composed entirely 'teenagers from the com- ^lnity. . ^"More than 150 tickets were sold, and the people who attended the evening performance wanted their names put <Jpwn for reserved seats for the jjjjgxt play. The first act ended with everyone ..laughing hilariously at Aaron Slick. The second act was sparked by the appeara0e of, Clarence Green, the mysterious young man who met his match in Sis Riggs, the tom-boy. Then the third act nearly brought down the house when the cabaret singer had Aaron Slick fleeced out of his wallet, the pin and watch. The cast was as follows: Aaron Slick, Bob Messel; Mr. Wilbur Merridew, Kirk Merley; Clarence Green, Don Rockel; CJfidys May Merridew, Lola DuPree; The Girl in Red, Betty Esbrook; Mrs> Rosy Berry, Erna Rockel; Sis Riggs, Barbara Schlick. An .additional seven 'teenagers were used to play the hotel guests in the third act. The play was written by Lieut. Beale Cormack and directed by Mrs. Kenneth Merley and James Bales. <^fter the curtain-call, the cast presented Mrs. Merley with a beautiful corsage and Mr. Bales with a boutonniere for their fine work of directing the play. Necessary committees for the production of the play were as follows: Business manager, Bob Messel; assistant business manager, Judy Jensen; stage Mnager, Don Bentz;* assistant ge manager, Craig Thoren; advertising, Don Rockel, Ron Spankuch, Kirk Merley; makeup, Pat Johnson; program and tickets, Barbara Schlick; ushers, Bob Beamer, Bud Messel; refreshments, Pelores Formella and Gloria Weldin. ^ Well, here it is the end of the month again and that Mans that next Wednesday, rch 5, is community association night. There will be lots of important items on the agenda for the evening so try coming out to see what is being done to improve your community. The girl scouts have been Wusy working this month rehearsing for the play which will be presented at the inves- Qtyre. They have also been working on their badges and some were glad to hear that their badges were ok'd. the Feb. 18 meeting Dianne Johnson demonstrated very nicely some of the points needed in the child care badge. Mrs. Spankuch was a guest at this meeting and enjoyed paying the girls a visit. The play practice is well under -way but even with all their work accomplished the girls still find time in the meetings for singing their favorite songs and • • • close their meetings with "Day is Done." N Mrs. Wilson read a letter of thanks from the priest at the mission house where the toys at Christmas time were sent by the girls. Johnsburg PTA News ' The PTA nominating committee was elected at the last meeting of the PTA and will soon start working on a list of nominations for Uie leaders of next year's PTA. ThoSe oji the committee are: Muriel Peterson, Angie Nielson and Viola Schuble. Eeveryone is still talking about the interesting meeting of the PTA last week when the members were treated with the book review of "Papa's wife" given by Mrs. Stinespring and a short recital of the newly formed Johnsburg school band. With so much planning going into making these meetings so interesting it is too bad that only about 35 of the 145 PTA members usually attend. Your children spend 75 percent of their time in school so why don't you plan to spend one evening a month showing you're interest in them and their school. PTA meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 8 pjn. Plan to attend Down Woodland Lane The chicken pox has really settled down for a long stay at the Mclnerny homestead with all of the brood wearing the polka dots. We hope they aren't too sick with it and that mama Mclnerny is able to survive the ordeal. Councilman Lorainne Hurckes is another that has reached 100 percent association membership in her block. Good going. School Board Elections are coming up again on April 12 for the Johnsburg school. Last year we were not able to get one representative on the board of three elected because the turnout from the Highlands was so poor. This year we hope to do better. Over half of the Johnsburg pupils are from Pistakee Highlands and if you would like to run for the board your petition must be filed in Woodstock no later than March 22. Little Billy Jackson is over the measles now and has given them to his brother Randy to keep for awhile. Are you next Robbie? Bunny Avenue was the scene of another bouncing party last weekend when the Nielsons and the Sinicins got together for another friendly shindig. Lots of fun was had by everyone. Sorry to hear that the flu bug stopped at the Fellows' household and hope everyone there is up and well again. In, case you've noticed that new dashing redhead in the subdivision, it's none other than our old Carla Bales with a new coiffure, color and style. The hair-do may be changed but it's still the same laughing Carla. A few of the neighborhood gals got together with their youngins' for lunch at Dot Erbins last week. The moms and kids all enjoyed the break from the daily routine and the food was deliciousl The Reinhart family recently took a trip to Chicago to visit Grace's sister-in-law and enjoyed a nice dinner and visit. Daughter Gloria Dowe went valong and little Denise took her first trip. Grace and Forrest are busy house cleaning and looking forward to her folks coming to stay for awhile in April. He has lots of company down that way since quite a few of the offspring at the end of town fhave the pink polka dots. The Jackson house is unusually busy with Randy and Robbie both sick with the measles, father Ron is home from work on vacation, and' Pats' brother and family are staying with them for awhile. Never a dull moment^ Hope they are all back to normal again soon. Belated Congratulations to the Sabielny family on the addition of a baby boy to their happy home. Down Deerpath and Rand Way The folks down on Deerpath drive owe Paul Johnson a vote of thanks for the gravel he dug from under his house to put on the slippery hill entering their street. The Johnson family entertained Shirley's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Defenbaugh recently when they braved the winter weather to come out for a visit. Dee Gregg also enjoyed a visit from her mother, Mrs. Harris recently. Fay Miller and Helen Steinmetz surprised Hazel Rogde and family with a visit complete with a dinner all prepared. This was a welcome re- Cub Scouts The Cub Scouts had thefif very successful "Blue and. Gold Dinner" last, Monday evening at the Community center. Naturally all the boys were there and their guests.were: George VanZevern, Archie Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pfingsten, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Murrey, Mr. and Mrs. John Sinicin, Mr. and Mrs. .Floyd Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Neilsen, and Vem Mothers, Marilyn Lammert, and Lee Conway. Hot dogs, barbecues, potato chips, cole slaw, and various relishes were served, plus milk, coffee, cake and ice cream. Three 'teen-agers pitched in to help serve the dinner.
