Thursday, March 6. 1958 McHENpY Great Outdoors By Jack Walsh wrutirriniiini iLirnn<tiriii:iiiiiiiiiitiitiiiii«nm tqjfcbe snots ^Last week we hopped a train for Chicago;' Our destination: the annual Sportsman's Show at the International Amphitheater. The Parade of Champions, BtiC'd. by Preston Foster of twvision fame, was quite an attraction and we saw five of the best trained golden retrievers in the world. They could do just about everything but tjalk. „ a lthaea Gun Company had a gfood display. It featured their latest achievement, a semiautomatic ..22 rifle. This gun handles nicely and is Supposed |be capable of putting ten into a two-inch circle with open sights at a range of 100 yards. The action is smooth and the safety features positive. iWatch for this little gun. It will be on the market soon for approximately $55. There were fewer sporting goods displays than other years. House-trailer displays predominated the scene and fj^d most of the space at this year's show. . Spring is on its way so if you have any doubts about your outboard motor, have it checked over thoroughly. There is an old saying, "An.ounce of prevention is worth a pound, of cure." It is not much fun waiting for your motor to be repaired while everyone else is enjoying spring boating, "s soon as the ice is gone there should be some good crappie fishing in the channels. Ice fishing was a complete flop this winter so there ought to be plenty of fish left over for spring and summer fishing. BOWLING NOTES Continued from Page 3) win, 3-7-10; J. Meyer, 5-7. The young Warrior's over-all won-lost record for the season ended 15 and 4. , The host team shot very well in the first half and our lads trailed at intermission by a 36 to 29 score. ; In the second half it appeared the Warriors might catch up and go on to victory, ljut the boys just couldn't seem tp hit the hoop with any regularity. The Warriors shot only 21 percent,, in the second half on five field goals for 23 attempts, and this proved to be the decisive factor In the game. Jim Hester and- John Olson led the Warrick offensive with 15 and 12 points respectively. McHenry - . T. Creighton J.
