Gr$en Street From Don Peasley comes word that the McHenry Women's Team won second place in the 1958 Illinois. Farm Sports Festival bowling finals at Decatur, also the following report on mixed doubles: Imogene King-Robert Mc- Devitt, Sangaman county's Rural Youth mixed doubles champions last year, came the nearest of any entrant toward retaining its title. However, Jinny Kunde, Bill Weber, McHenry county, whipped them by 30 pins. Miss Kunde's 173 final game was a strong factor in the upset, although Miss King's tough luck in her final game 'made a big difference in the two teams scores. . Miss Kunde had 143- 147-173-463 while Weber rolled 143-180-156-479. Miss King had 155-134-94-383 and McDevitt had 169-167-193-529. Name Shirley Thurlwell Sorority House Head Shirley Thurlwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. The hunting clubs then start harvesting the corn, thkt has been left standing in the fields for feed and cover for the J pheasants. General repairs and maintenance work are carried on until next fall when the seasons open again. We have noticed quite a few frontier model revolvers in the sport stores lately... The old "six-gun*' is $oming into its own again. Etesders tell us that they caii't keep enough of these guns in stock. Colt is putting out a "Buntline Special" like the one Wyatt Earp uses and has made famous on TV. This gun has a twelve inch barrel and weighs fortythree ounces. It is available in .45 caliber and sells for approximately $140. Now is the time to start checking over all your fishing equipment. Disassemble S'our reels and clean them thoroughly with gasoline or benzine. An old tooth brush is just the thing for cleaning gUmmy residue out of the gears. Put in new grease and oil, but be sure not to overdo it. Fly rods may need refinishing and this is an easy task. Bamboo rods should be sanded, pumiced $nd then gone over with fine steel wool. Replace worn guides, bad ferrules, etc., then revarnish with a good quality rod varnish. All hooks should be sharpened and plugs and spoons touched up and shined. If you cover your spoons with a light coat of clear lacquer, they will noi tarnish. Check line for cracks or other signs of wear. Replace the worn netting on your landing nets. It is not much fun to bring a big fish in and then have him escape through the bottom of a rotted net. Uphold Ruling At SunnysideW - - tyy • The state Supreme court recently upheld the decision of Jydge Henry L. Cowlin in county court in his order given a year previous, allowing the petition of seventeen electors to disconnect from the village of Sunnyside. The petitioners, headed by Marie Bergis and Marion Brink, included those who previously protested the^incorporation of Sunnyside. The court action allows the W. E. Kriight subdivision, Riverdale subdivision and seventeen acres of the Peter A- Freund property and other property tp disconnect. .. , • Following Judge Cowlin's decision last year, action was appealed by the village of Sunnyside, which contended ' among other things that the statute in which the disconnection was allowed was unconstitutional and that it was not shown that the electors who ^ed the petition were registered voters.
