I^The Softball season got under- / |.%ay with a game between the ',1'old duffers" and the 'teen- ')• iters on Sunday at the beach, ^insiderably hampered by the fact that they had had no iCtice beforehand, the young ads were solidly trounced by the Older men. The score was .. Something like 16|6--or worse. It was wonderful to see our league • team in such excellent Shape. As manages Bud Cable puts it--they have some wonderful talent and hcipe tp bring home the trophy this year. ( Anecdotes from Both Elections :• Seventy-four ballots were isist for the school board election held Saturday with th jjolls at the beachhouse. There are enough women on the roster, if they will only attend the meetings. Can we plan on YOU for the next one? Ground Breaking Ceremony Village president, J. R. Levesque was an invited guest at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new telephone company dial building being erected at Pearl and Court streets. The affair was held on Friday, April 11. Each of the four .dignataries was presented with an inscribed shovel, in commemoration of the event. Jake has promised to put his to good use. Enterprising Youngsters The small fry of the community, planned and staged a mammoth circus on Saturday at the Jack Schlofnej* home. Some of the attractions included a wild animal display (tame kittens), a "fat lady" (Miss Diane Bjork), and a bicycle race. Refreshments were dispnesed with a free hand by Lynne Schultz, the "cup game" was supervised by Berenice Bjork, and Jeff Levesque served in the capacity of ticket clerk. The entire production was staged and managed by the sisters, Linda and Donna Schlofner. The "take" amounted to $2.60, and will be turned over to the polio fund. This was their own idea. Seems as though the younger generation has thoughts for those less fortunate than they are. We think they deserve a great deal of credit. day. Here's hoping a|l goes well. :• '..' • -f*'• All Brdken tJp The Don Lorch family is mourning the loss of their pet feline, fluffy, who met an untimely demise last week. For three days, Fluffy was reported missing. Hie family searched everywhere in vain. Imagine their shock, when it was discovered that Fluffy's body was floating in the lake. The cat was probably struck by a car, but we can't imagine that anyone would be cruel enough to toss the kitty in the water. Honor Roll Students Eighth grader Johnny Boyle and sixth grader Chryssie Levesque made the "A" honor roll in Junior High for the last marking period. This is an innovation that was started to honor above average students and to inspire others who could make it "by applying themselves. Here's hoping for lots more names "in the next qliar-" ter.
