The program we/ designed by the troop officers and^heir scoutmaster, pff Todd. jl.The boys hiked about eight wiles to the campcite where ithfey immediately set up the ;Jwits, built the fireplace and worked on the other necessary ifrdgets that make camping fitore ftth. I Several wide-games were played with the' senior patrol leader, Donald Mercure in fcjnrge. Later in the afternoon- I™ whole, troop participated Ifi a relay skill test that included arqhery, Are building, fcompass, measuring, nature, Campsite layout and first-aid. ^e main project on this campout was the construction of watersheds and dams' in the fcrfeek. ^ The purpose was to hetjp save the soil and keep thd creek getting muddy, and also ,to provide a place for the fish to spaWn. The boys who participated on this outing were: from the Flaming Arrow patrol: Butch Lubke, Jimmy Prasil; from the Chippewa patrol: Bob Bartell, Greg P a u l s o n , Lawrence Sch^urr, Louis Stragatnalio, ijnd from the Whippoorwill Patrol: Dick Bitterman, Willie #m Arnie Kloepfer, Bob Foss a'nd Lonnie Opalka. The Chippewa patrol took top honors for the best participation throughout the campout. Brossman, Michael Dorsey, Riehy Hecknyan, Andrew Paletora, Kenny Scheurr, Bobby Tobias or Darrel Whynot. The den was sorry that Darrel and Tommy could ribt be at the meeting because of illness. Cub S^out News, -- Den 3 There is a correction to be made from last week's report, and that is that Lorette Lubke is the den mother and Sally i>ke is the a s s i s t a n t den 5ther. At the last comrmtteeman's meeting for the Cub Scouts Pack 361 of the McHenry area, the need for men to serve on the committee was discussed. Lorette- has been calling on the fathers of the Cub Scouts in Den 3 to speak with them about this matter. So far she has only called on Mr. and Mrs. Whynot and Mr. Wkynot has consepte& on the committee: -She hopes to have callcd on all the families by the next pack meeting, which is this Thursday night at 7:30, so their names can be on the new charter. The den is very much in need of supplies for their scoutcraft and if any one has any scraps left from their "spring cleaning" such as odds and ends o£ paint, varnish, wallpaper, tile, plywood, etc., they would all appreciate your offerings.
