Grant pilgrimage of the boy scouts of America with troop 162 of McHenry at Galena, 111., last, Saturday. Boy Scouts from Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa took part in the impressive celebration. Saturday night the scouts camped at the Mississippi Palisades State Park on the Mississippi river and returned Sunday night. Johnsburg Boys' League The meeting of the Johnsburg boys' league was held on Wednesday, April 23, at which time election of officers was held. Newly ; elected into office were Rudy Fischer of Jak- Ana Heights as president, Archie Fletcher of Pistakee as vice-president and Valerie Patterson of SunnySide as secretary- treasurer. Last year the league treasury was so depleted that it operated in thfc red until the fall meeting and some of the members prepaid some of their dues to meet the accrued bills. At this recent meeting it was unanimously voted to raise the dues from $2 to $4. At the fall meeting a project was decided upon in order for the boys to rebuild the treasury. The boys are hoping for a lot of outside cooperation to defray the experise of badly needed equipment for the teams. There will undoubtedly be more teams than last years so the expense will be higher. The league hopes to secure enough outside help to cover the cost of the insurance for the teams also. The insurance had to be paid by each boy last year. Tryouts for the teams will be held in early May. Parents who registered their boys will be notified as to the date and a release will also be sent to them. This release is to be signed before the boy can participate. Anyone wishing to pay their dues can do so by sending it to Valerie Patterson, Route 5 Box 656, McHenyr. if it is , more convenient, drop your dues at Paul's Drivein. The .league is in need of at least two more managers and coaches. Anyone wishing to work with these boys and has one or two evenings open each week, please contact anyone of the league officials. This is a worthwhile cause and the time spent Will be well worth the effort At the present time there are close to eighty boys registered for theSfc lfeagtie 'teams.' So please step up and help with these future major leaguers. ii- * I invades the low-priced field with a full-sized sedan at smallcar prices ^ Mercury SEE YOUR LOCAL MERCURY DEALER ^ Birthday Corner Best wishes to Mrs. Hilda May who celebrated her natal day on April 25 by having her family as dinner guests.
