She has been class treasurer and maintained a 3.5 average out of a possible 4 thiaf past year. Jane will enter h& senior year next fall. A total of 38,780 Americans were killed in 1957 traffic accidents. Willard S. Kiddelsen Willard S. Kiddelsen, 43, aviation metalsmith, first class, with the U.S. Navy, stationed at Glenview, died April 23 at Great Lakes Naval hospital following a short illness. Mr. Kiddelsen, who-had served in the Navy for sixteen years, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kiddelsen of Crystal Lake road. Other surviv ors include two brothers, How ard of St. Louis and Elmer of C h i c a g o ; t h r e e s i s t e r s , M r s . Ruth Martinec of Johnsburg, Mrs. Margaret Jung of Solon Mills and Mi's. Louise Miller of McHenry. Services were held at 2 o' clock Saturday afternoon from the Peter M. Justen funeral home, with a navy chaplain officiating. Interment was in Woodland cemetery. Carrie Lyons Last rites were conducted Friday in St. Joseph's church, Fontana, Calif., for .Mrs. Carrie Lyons, 60, mother of Mrs. Margaret Fischer of McHenry. She died April 22 in Fontana. Anna KuechenmeisteV Mrs. Anna Kuechenmeister, 1 3 8 , d i e d A p r i l 27 a t L a k e County hospital in Waukegan, where she had been a patient for thirteen days. She was a native of Germany, where she was born Nov. 27, 1870, and had lived in the Grass Lake area for sixty-seven years. Survivors include a brother, Fred Klaus, of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Laffler, of Hinsdale. Services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock f r o m t h e P e t e r M. J u s t e n funeral home, with Rev. Sommers of Chicago officiating Burial was in Bethania cemetery, Chicago. Hugh W. Morris Hugh W. Morris, 77, a twenty- year resident of Fair Oaks s u b d i v i s i o n , M c H e n r y , d i e d Saturday, April 26, in McHenry hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Pennsylvania Jan 5, 1881, and was a retfted employee of the Illinois Bell Telephone company. Mary Helen Pyatt Mary Helena Pyatt, mother of Mrs. Leo Scarbrough of McCullom Lake, was buried ih St. Mary's cemetery Wednesday morning following services in St. Bonaventure church, Chicago. The McHenry Woman's club will close its season on Friday. May 9, with a luncheon at the American Legion home at 1 p:m. Mrs. George Stilling and Mrs. Richard Fleming are cochairmen for the day and they assure us that the buffet luncheon, the program and the wea: ther will be fine. The weather, of course, will require some cooperation by the weather-man. But rain or shine, it will be an interesting program, so do come and bring a guest or two. There are no ticketsjor sale in advance. Mrs. Charles Walgreen, whio is an executive member of the American Refa Cross, will be the guest of honor. She will show a series of slides which she titles '.'Here's Looking at Nature." Mrs. Walgreen has travelled extensively atid is well known to women's clubs throughout the country. This activity of Mrs. Walgreen is a philanthropic one. The money she raises in this manner goes to the Red Cross. She has raised many thousands of dollars for them. The musical portion of the program will be arranged by Bessie Ryan, who is certainly no stranger in our vicinity, since she teaches music. On Thursday of last week, Mrs. Vaughan Jones and Mrs. Arnold Schaettgen attended the eleventh district meeting of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs at Wheaton. New district officers were elected for district and county organizations. Mrs. Jones holds a county chairmanship in McHenry county. Mi's. Schaettgen presented blue ribbons to the press book district winners. The Illinois department meeting will be held at Chicago May 6 to* 8. For' any wno are contemplating taking an active part in the club, the convention sessions will give them a wider scope of the activities of women's clubs than can be had locally. MCHS GOUFB&t BEAT CRYSTAL LAKE 9 T01 Matt Eichinger Shoots A 37 To Lead The Match CHANGE SCHEDULE Effective next Sunday, May 5, the Presbyterian church, is meeting at the Eastwood Manor community barn, will change its schedule to 8:30 for church school and 10 a.m. for church worship. LITTLE LEAGUE NOTES Tonight, Thursday, May 1st is registration nite for all interested boys within McHenry's Little League boundary. Registration will be held at the V.F.W. hair at 7:00 p.m. Next Monday and Tuesday, May 5th and 6th, will be tryout nights for all the boys who will be eight years old before August 1st. Practice will start at 6:30 P.M. Bring your own glove. We will furnish the hats and balls. On Wednesday and Friday nite there will be tryouts for the 9 and 10 year olds. The 11 and 12 year olds will try. out the following week on M o n d a y a n d T u e s d a y , May 12th and 13th. All the tryout sessions will be at the City ball park, which is located be- ,hind the National Food Store. READ THK WANT AOS! Last Thursday the McHenry High School Golf team swamped Crystal Lake 9-1 in a nine hole match. Matt Eichinger led the team with a 37 to his opponent's 41. Dick Smith beat his man 43-50. Gene Stilling beat his man 46-54; and Gary Adams tied 53-53. Gary encountered some trouble, and this was his worst game all year. Matt Eichinger, Dick Smith and Gene Stilling are; holdovers from last year. All show promise of improving and should be In the high 70's of low 80's within a couple of weeks. Bob Vaupell and Gary Adams are freshmen and should improve. Other members of the squad that show promise are Ben Cheleni, Dan Baldino, Nick Groh, Charles Chrisman, and "Doc" Fike. At the present time Matt's average is 78. With the weather warming up Matt should lower that score and should be in contention to qualify for state honors. At the present time the team has lost to Grayslake, tied Lake Forest, and beat Crystal Lake.
