Some of the fathers are still applying linament to sore arm and Wfe * muscles after the strenuous baseball game against the youngsters. The "old" boys eked out a victory by a small margin. Birthday Greetings Happy birthday to Bob Kellogg who celebrated his birthday on May 10, and to Elmer (•Urban who blew out another jcMdle on May 11. I ^Eake and coffee were served •at the home of Marilyn Fultz, ion Wednesday, May 7, to celebrate Nancy Lessard's birth- 'day. Along with Marilyn and Nancy, Carold Hayes, Hannah Harner, Doris Shaw, Rita iSimpson and Nim Hansen all joined in to make it a festive occasion. The younger generation of • E^ftwood Manor had quite a busy week with five birthday parties going on. While Susie Newlon's birthday was actually on May 5, she celebrated the occasion on Saturday, May 3, by blowing out four candles. Helping her to celebrate were grandma and grandpa Gilloffo and aunt Nanette Gilloffo, plus Alfred and Joe Ritter, Debbie and David Garrelts and JDenise l4|(tchea and their mothers from our subdivision. Lynne Marie Monahan reached the ripe old age of two on and grandypa Vander Pyl came out from Lake Villa to/, wish her many happy returns of the day. . Jeff Harner had his party one day early this year and his aunts, uncles and cousins plus his grandma and ^grandpa, Dr. and Mrs. Leroy Harner from Chicago, all came out on Sunday, May 4 to help, him celebrate his third birthday. Margie Birmingham had a big party ofi May 5, to celebrate her fifth birthday, with plenty of ice cream, cake and pop. ThoSe helping her to celebrate and also to consume the goodies were: Jimmy Couglin, Jody Welp, Susie and Edward Anderson, Pam and Jackie Radner Martha and Steven Simpson, Michael and Gail Mc- Cormack and Jimmy Fultz, Twenty Children were present for Pamala Jean Campbell's birthday party on May 8. Among the children who helped her celebrate her second birthday were her cousins, Gary, Jeanie and Donnie Rollins and Larry and Ricky Rollins, all of Melrose Park. She received many beautiful > gifts from her friends, and they all had a* grand time playing games. Happy Anniversary To Winnie and Lennie Hansen, who celebrated their seventeenth year of wedded bliss on May 10. Ifs A Girl Little Frances Lee Mathes arrived at 6:13 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, and tipped the scales at 7 lbs. 11 ozs. Both mother and baby are doing fine' at Memorial hospital but daddy, Mike and Kathy are anxiously waiting for them to come home. Winnie Hansen and Lennie Lawrence had some good news when their sister, Marilyn Buck, of Cross Lak?, becam'e the mama of a baby girl, Lisa Louise, on Thursday, May 8. Lisa has three big brothers at home waiting to get a glimpse of their little sister. This and That\ i Three girls from the subdivision, Rosemary Newlon, Gerry Woods and Peggy Garrelts, finished up the bowling season by attending a bowling banquet on Tuesday, May 6, in Carpentersville. The team Peg plays on walked off with first place by one pin. Lee Hansen's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hansen, arrived here from Missouri Valley, I,owa, on May 2, to spend a few days with Mim, Lee and the childen. It turned out to^e a very busy weekend as thej^ll journeyed up to Milwaukee <5h Saturday to visit Lee's aunt, Mrs. Roy Crozier, and on Sunday night, Mr. and Mrs. Delane Hultman fipm Forest Park, came \up here for .supper. - --- On Sunday evening,. May 4, Pat and Lew Kellogg entertained Lew's aunts, Mrs. Marie Hansen and Mrs. Norma Andresen, from Davenport, Iowa. Lydia , Fenner recently won two tickets to a theater in Chicago for her prize winning essay, "What my mother means to me." Margaret Pickett's mother, Mrs. .Mary Jones, of Libert y-- ville, celebrated her birthday on Saturday. April 26, in Eastwood Manor with the help of friends from Chicago and Lake Zurich. Rita Simpson served a delicious luncheon on Monday, My 5. Lois McCormack, Dolores Lawrence, Winnie Hansen, Lois Krebs, Helen Birmingham, Betty Radner, Marilyn Fultz and Peggy Garrelts. Georgia Sigman and Emiiy Smlthson finished up the bow* ing season by attending two bowling banquets. Their own banquet was held on April 30, and on Saturday, May 3. they helped their husbands, Wally and Jack, celebrate the end of a successful season. Our bnide of the near future, Sharon Slove, was the guest of honor at a shower in her home on Saturday, May 3. which was given by her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Slove. - Fifteen \ Manor on September 22, 1957. Roy is employed 6 s a postman in Skokie and Shirley is employed in Skokie. Roy loves to bowl and collect stamps and Shirley , says that keeping house is a full time hobby with her. Shirley is a native of Skokie and Roy comes from Chicago. The Ramon Charbonnier family/ which consists of ftamon, Mary, and their three children, 14 year old Sonny, Danny, who will be 13 in September and Linda, who will be 9 this month, moved in to their new home on September 20, 1956. Ramon is a truck loader for a firm in Highland Park and drives to work each day. Mary likes to sew aind Ramon's hobby is bowling. They are both natives of Chicago, I certainly appreciated all the telephone calls which I rereceived this past week. Please keep up the good work. The phone number is 2755. Lois McCormack was all set for surgery on Thursday, May 8, but had to return home for a few days because of a bad cold. Club News The Octettes met at the home of Lydia Fenner on May 7 Marie Theis, of Algonquin, took first prize, second prize, was won by Lillian Zgorski and Vern Bauer won third prize. S t r a w b e r r y g l a z e w h i p p e d creaih pie was served along with cream puffs and chocolate eclairs, and each member received an artificial rose bud in keeping with their May Flowers' theme. The next meeting will be held at the home of Marie Theis on May Sunday, May 4, and grandma 21. Several of the girls from our subdivision attended the Fashion Show, which was sponsored by the McHenry Hospital Women's auxiliary on May 8, and in which our own Mim Hansen was a model. From all reports, they enjoyed the evening very much. Road Maintainanco Mr. Raecko and his associates have been employed as village engineers for the maintainance of our roads. They are planning for the future so that when the time is permissable the roads will be taken care of. The motor fuel tax fund is available for this purpose. The roads that are used on hand for the safety of our children. Any woman who wishes to patrol can fill out an application and three will be accepted for the fall school term.
