And sure enough she won 1st prize for the most' original hat. A hat with a baby on it. How 'bout that! N Marcia and Eddie Dowd are back home again after* that vacation in Mass. There's no place like home?? Sorry to hear that Jake Stoffel, Bunny Thelen's dad, had an accident while using a table feaw, and lost a couple of fingers. Jo Novotny visited with his parents here in the Highlands for a few days. He was in Chicago playing tuba for the New York Metropolitan Opera. Tom and Lois Mason are going to Chicago Friday to help Tom's brother celebrate his birthday. Eddie and Marcia Doid, Margaret and Gerry Molidor, and Carla and Jim Bales enjoyed a Saturday evening dining (luscious smorgasbord) and dancing at the Swedish Glee Club in Waukegan. Helen Kolb has beea enjoying the last week just vacationing around her own home. There's no place like home. Geri Vrbik spent a few days in Chicago giving her mother a helping 'hand. Her mother has been suffering from a fractured leg. Judy and Becky Zetterburg have been down with colds and Fever. We hope they are up and around soon. Roger Fellcws left last week for camp. His folks were sorry to see him leave. George Neeson was happy to see his brother from Texas last Wednesday. His father came along and they all enjoyed a pleasant visit. Happy birthday to Dottie Tomao who will celebrate her birthday on June 6. A big belated birthday party was held in the honor of Tommy Warczak Jr., last Saturday evening. The little fellow celebrated his first birthday. His folks had a big fire, much singing and good food was enjoyed by the lucky guests. Mrs. Helen Lewis was' the gUest of Tommy Warczak last Sunday afternoon for coffee and some of his birthday cake. George and Arlene Fick took Victor to'her mothers home in Chicago and George and Arl e n e l e f t w i t h f r i e n d s f r o m Chicago to enjoy a long weekend in Wisconsin. They got a head start and left Wednesday night. Judy Krumwiede is cat sitting for Arlene while they are gone. Happy birthday to Kay Sielisch who celebrated her birthday last Tuesday, June 3rd. Many cards and gifts came ih the fnail to make it a pleasant day. Jim Peloquir. is still in the hospital recuperating and sorry to add that he did not make it home in time for his sister's graduation, - f Bob Hurcke's mother and dad were out from Chicago for the Memorial Day holiday and spent a pleasant visit. We are happy to report that Mrs. Esbrook is home from the hospital but temporarily confined to her home. We hope she will be up and about very soon. Harold and Muriel Peterson entertained house guests over the three day holiday. All the guests agreed Muriel's cooking is out of "this world. Mr. apd Mrs. Rogde drove to Chicago to pick up their daughter Pat. Pat enjoyed theholiday with her folks and the graduation of her sister, Trudy. Hazel Rodge is quite proud o f t h a t b a s s s h e c a u g h t l a s t week. Since then she had an itchin' to go fishin'. Mrs. Haase has been very ill and confined to her bed. We hope she will be better very soon. Dick and Hazel Morley at-, tended the wedding of friends last Saturday at Round Lake. They enjoyed a delightful evening of dining and dancing.
