The operation was performed Wednesday afternoon? The undesirable situation was corrected, and Barbara was expected to be released on Monday.. She is doing just fine, but will be e on the convalescent list for * quite some time. While Barbara has been incapacitated, the home chores have been taken care of by husband, Chuck; and Barbara's mother. How about a, card for her. They Need Help! £Dur 'teen-agers have had a wonderful season with their dances, and they are almost over. With the few weekends remaining, they are meeting with opposition in obtaining chaperones for Saturday nights. Several generous adults have already given many nights for this important chore. Sad1 Defeat 'Twas A heart-breaking game that our own Little League All-Stars lost to the McHenry Falcons oh Sunday. The final score was 13-4. Our lads played t^. their utmost, but got cariWd away in the third inning, when McHenry gained 8 runs. Most of those were earned on errors. However, the boys gained valuable! experience and we're sure they . profited . by their mistakes. Here's wishing them better luck the n eoc t time. There is a big ball game scheduled for Labor bay with our All-Stars meeting 'the Wonder Lake All-Stars at our beach. The^ time and details will be printed next week. Headed For The Deep Nortli Whitey Bjork, Bill DeVries, y o u n g B i l l y C a b l e a n d D i c k Osterby departed our shores with the rising of the sun on Monday morning. Their destination is someplace in Canada and (according to daughter, Diane Bjork, the foursome will be miles from civilization. They expect to bring back the limit in game fish. A real icetreat for real men! Tops In Teens Our McCu{lom Lake 'teen .team is out to win the trpphy in their 16" softball league. Two weeks ago, the young men played Vycital's< Hardware and wort by a score of 17-3. Last Wednesday night, they engaged the formidable Mort's Drive-in and Raycraft's Tree Service teams and were again victorious by winning 10-9 in the last inning! On Mondiay and Wednesday nights of this week, they were scheduled for the games which will decide th'e Championship. Here's hoping they bring home those trophies!! Second place winners, will be awarded medals. Bill tells the story of how surprised Pearl Nersted was when she walked into her new home in Florence, Ala. and saw the furniture all in place. Bill was happy to be of assistance t o P e t e i n t r a n s p o r t i n g t h e load. / Strange Sight All in a day's work was the transporting of a huge barn from its location at the Northern Pump company farm near the railroad tracks here at the lake to its new site on a farm .near Richmond. Quite naturally, it wasn't moved all in one piece! The building was sectioned off and taken apart. But some of the pieces, especially the round roof, were quite large. The entire edifice will be rebuilt at the new location. Good To Welcome Back Marge Peterson and young sprouts, Corky and Mario, who are spending two weeks with us. They have been renting the Geitz cottage on Orchard Drive, only two, doors west of their former home. Marge and Lowell still miss living here but eagerly look forward to their two weeks every summer. Home From The Road The Nelson family en masse, Elma, Earl, Ken, and Donny, returned last week from a glorious trip through the South, at Mammoth Cave in Kentucky They spent- considerable time a n d t h e n on t o , t h e G r e a t Smoky Mountains. Interesting sights were seen at the Cherokee Indian reservation, North Carolina. Their trip was a leisurely one, with no hair-raising ^deadline or itinerary to meet." They look great! Maxwell returned home from a ten-day vacation with relatives sin Detroit, Mich. While there, they spent a lot of their leisure time fishing and getting^a gpod catch of silver bass, pickerel and perch. The beautiful lakj? of Lake St. Clair was th^ spot the Maxwells chose to do their fishing. A great time was had, but all good things must come to an end so this couple is now back in the swing of the same old routine at home. } L.I.A. A grand time was had, with the family all together at Joliet. Plenty of food was around for the gang to fill up on. Nothing keep? the Harders from going places or entering. 1 On Sunday, Aug. 17, the Harders' children from Chicago and nearby towns gathered at ri^om and dad's house to have a picnic. All the grandchildren had a big time out in the country air. Mrs. Harder was in for luck because the food was all brought to her home just for her to. eat and no cooking to be done. - We all know that the Harders enjoyed themselves with their children all around them for a day's outing. grandchildren, J. R. and D. D. Levesque who got into the act. Pa is taking no chances with the mischief makers. He bought a trailer and transports his pride and joy with, him! August Birthdays On Saturday, Aug. 16, Mrs. Stephanie Zarek celebrated a birthday with a. group of close friends at a corn roast and barbeque. A lot of food and lots of merriment made this a day for her to remember. Ray Cynowa also celebrated his birthday on' this same day. From Village Office On Tuesday evening, Aug. 19, the finance committee met at the fire community house to discuss the financial situation of the village and make plans for expenditures. Surveying of Sheridan and Park roads are now under way through the motor fuel tax fund. Drainage tile will be laid and the widening of Park road will soon start. Visits Sister Miss Helen Baskovic spent 9 few days with her sister, Mrs. Jennie McDermott. Miss Baskovic is enjoying a month's vacation from her work in Madrid, Spain. By the way, if you folks are wondering about the small car Jen's brother, Joe, is sporting around the village, it *is a Karmann Ghia, that his sister brought with her from Spain. Entertained Robert Montgomery entertained Mrs. Myrna Morrison and daughter at a cocktail party on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John Kraus visited their son, Curly, wife and daughter on Saturday at Niles. Karen, the Krauses granddaughter, was the center of attraction at the belated celebration 6f her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dortmann of Sheboygan, Wis., spent the past week at the John Kraus home. Mrs. Dortmann is Mrs. KraUs's sister. ' ' < . On Tuesday, Aug. 12, Mrs. Margaret Hatch and son, Michael, " Mrs.%Midge Beahler and daughter, lori, were Chicago visitors. While there, 'they enjoyed a Walt Disney production. On Wednesday, the Beahler family, Michael Hatch and Kenny Ehrhardt visited the Wisconsin Dells, staying overnight. The following day they journeyed to Eau Clair to visit Mrs. Beahler's mother and brother. Ted, Michael and Kenny then travelled farther north to do a little fishing. By the way their catch wasn't too plentiful. Cub Scout News Den 8 The Cubs of Den 3 and their families are having a pot-luck picnic at Fox River State Park in Wilmot, Wis. this coming Saturday. The river runs through the park and will provide fishing for the avid fishing fans. Those not interested in this sport will enjoy a baseball game and various races and contests. Last Friday evening, those concerned with the scouting program in Lakemoor were treated to the' all-star football game at Soldiers Field, by the Kishwaukee district of the Blackhawk Area council. Mr. Lubke, Lpfette and Sally Lubke, an^-Mr. Zabroski accompaffi$ 3ute following Scouts into the game: Butch Lubke, Jimmy Prasil, Davey Heckman and Donald Mercure; also the following Cub. Scouts, Duane Brossman, Richy Heckmann, Andy Patellaro, Terry Rogers, Chuck Zabroski, Herbie and Michael Zabroski. All were very thrilled with the game and the limited amount of traffic. Troop 161 now has i two active members in the Order of the Arrow. One is the scoutmaster. Cliff Todd, who was initiated in 1951, and the other member is Robert Bartelt, who just became initiated this last weekend. Robert was one of a select group who underwent a severe test of stamina and persaverance. The ordeal lasted three days which included two extremely impressive induction ceremonies that Bob will never forget. Bob was one of three from the McHenry area to complete the ordeal. The Arrow is an organization of select campers who are willing to devote much of their time in cheerful service to others.
