Her husband was home that day and she was helping, him paint. Family Reunion ' Mr. and Mrs. Ken BOyce entertained about forty-five members of the family at a reunion. They had. everything imaginable to eat and then later on all played games and as prizes they had all wrapped some "white elephants" that were no longer needed in their respective homes. I understand that some of the guqsts may still be on the laughing list. -0ty.Bound •Paulette and Jo Anne Aizzo wenV into the big city (that's what they call it) so that they could go and play ih the large playgrounds that they have there, but the real reason, mom Jo tells'me, was to attend the birthday of their little cousin, Joyce Geltner, who is just two years old. gk Old Friends former ball team friends oft Mr. I. Becker came out, eight) couples and their children. in all, to see their new home at 520 Home avenue. Dot Becker tells me that they sure had a rip-roaring good time and she just wondered if their neighbors heard all the noise that was going on 'till the wee hours of the morning. Of course this not enough, so on Sunday r. and Mrs. I. Becker, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. E. Charley and Mrs. Pat Boberg and baby decided to pay them a visit and after they left Uncle Ed and Aunt Lee (Glorch) came over and helped finish up the cake that was left. Glorch and their son's family, Mr. and Mrs. F. Glorch and family, all decided to get together and use their barbecue grill and as it turned out they decided to grill all their chickens at one time and as a result some of them really got quite-dark, but all in all everyone had a wonderful time. Bus Shelter It is again brought to your attention that some of the children are not taking care of the bus shelters as they should, particularly the one on Short ave. (at the Corner Store). These shelters were put there for the sole purpose of protection and if the children tear them apart they will have to end up standing out in the rain when they are no longer in good condition. Let's see to it that we all warn our children to take good care of these shelters. Caught Gads Lee, you should know bettor than to try to get together without Marge Franklin and myself. It seems that Ed. just came home with a few rolls, only enough for a few of the girls that always get together, so Lee decided* to call the closest ones to her, namely Daisy Krupinski, Dot Becker and Lena Abbinante; but then Marge called her and told her that we were coming down and Lee didn't know just what to say, so as-it turned out I had told Marge to call-and tell her that I was going to bring down a peach pie that I had baked and when told this we were then invited to join them. How do you like that, go visiting and bring your own food. Truthfully this was my first try, so I had to try it out on someone besides myself. How do you feel girls, no pain I hope. Oh I forgot, some of you ^ Large Pepper Just imagine the look on Ed. Glorch's face when he went out to his garden and thought he picked the1 largest pepper in Lakeland Park. I hear tell his eyes nearly popped out of his head. Wonder who did it? . . . Visitors Connie May, Hilda May. Lorraine Hiller, Lou Ann Smith, and Ethel Raa visited Barbara Malinowski on Thursday afternotm and they all had quite an enjoyable day munching on eake and drinking loads of coffee and played a few hands of cards. Phillip Krater was a weekend guest at the home of Bill and Joan Krater at which time he helped little granddaughter, Diane, celebrated her birthday. . Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gerstad Of 332 Shore Drive had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hiller and family of Schiller Park. This is one of our new residents having moved in on Aug. 26 from Reedsburg, Wis., and are the parents of three children. Mr. Gerstad is one of the new teachers at the McHenry high school. Claims in llR -^ji&nount of $135,780.14 for ,jJraikspoi"tatioh reimbursement ^r^the school year ending June *30, 1958, have beeft audited and approved for McHenry county by Vernon'.L. Nickell, superintendent of public instruction. The claim will be paid to Richafrd Tazewell, McHenry county superintendent of schools, who in .turn will disburse the' amount to the various school districts of the county. Certification bf claims by issuance of voucher was made by Nickeil to! thfe, auditor of public Accounts" fdr 'payment. \ ' The htcHen.ry ^county ' total was part of asratewide claim of $6,498,736.95 audited and approved by Nickell. This year's statewide claim exceeded the claim of the 1956-57 school year by over $600,000, according to figures rejleased by Nickell's director Qf statistics, Samuel M. Bishop. Because the total claims exceed the legislative appropriation of $6,000,000, immediate payment of claims will amount to 92.32563 per eenfc, of the certified claim. In the -^ent that the forthcoming 7$Jt Illinois General Assembly sees fit to approve a deficiency appropriation to cover the unappropriated amount, the latter will be paid immediately after such enactment. This procedure has been invoked by(i previous General Assembles. The approved claim is being paid under a new law passed by the 70th General Assembly. The law provides two methods of payment, half the cost of transportation or a payment for students per square mile based on a sparsity factor, whichever is the lesser. Approved claims for McHenry county as approved by Nickell show the following breakdown by local school districts: 12, $3,648.32; 15, $22,168.64 ; 36, $2,832.16; 156, $9,280.
