McHENRY GAINS ON, OTHER CITIES IN TAX COLLECTION McHenry ran a close third to two larger cities in the county in the amount of city sales tax collection during July, which nqtted all municipalities in the state $3,917,425.67. The July collection r^iWents*r the -.onehalf cent city sales tax on bu§fc$ ness transactions during June. A net amount of $5,358.99 was received locally, topped only by Woodstock with $5,- 975 27 and Crystal Lake with $5,672.38. Congratulations " Minnie Richards " ^ Mrs. Minnie Richards celebrated her ninetieth birthday anniversary last week, at which time she attended a pafcty given in her honor , by her daughter, Mrs. Frank Lascd. Guests were her, club members and friends, who enjoyed cards. • On Saturday, neighbors and friends called to see her. Sunday, -Mrs. Richards was the guest of her grandson in Elmwood Park for dinner. The gracious lady came to Richmond in 1888 from Garden Prairie, where she was born. Her husband, Ed. Richards, died in "1942 and after that time she spent her winters ;n Lake Geneva, Wis.; .with her daughter. She now lives with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lasco, in Richmond. Mrs. Richards still sews, with or without glasses, and enjoys working fn the garden among her flowers. She especially likes to ride in the car and visit with her friends and neighbors. She received many beautiful cards and gifts from her friends and neighbors on the occasion of this memorable anniversary. Among her great treasurers is a letter of congratulations on her birthday from Gov. Strat- HOME BURGLARIZED The Robert Carlo home at Wonder Lake was reported burglarized last Wednesday night and items valued at $200 taken. They included a lady's wrist watch, wedding ring, cijff links and a Spanish pistol. Entrance yvas said to have been gained by breaking the kitchen door lock.
