J 4-H News The following residents of Eastwood Manor, who are members of the 4-H Cardinal, attended a recreation party at the First Methodist church in Woodstock on Jan. 8, Karen Anderson, Linda Charbonnier, Norma Gruhn, Nancy and Margaret Oik, Donna Patryas, Lynnda Stuart and Donna Lee Wood. Marge Sheehy walked into a surprise birthday party when she returned from work on Jan. 8. Cake and coffee were served in her honor at the home of Rita Simpson to Marilyn Fultz,' Lois McCormack, Betty Radner, Pat Couglin, and Helen Birmingham. Happy birthday, Marge. Little Janet Long turned 4 years old on Jan. 7 and oh Jan. 8 she had a big birthday party. There were fourteen children and nine mothers who were served ice cream, cake, and soda. Welcome Wee One Barbara Jane Iverson made her appearance on Jan. 8. The baby was a January surprise, because she wasn't due until February. All 6 lbs. 7 oz. of Barbara Jane is welcome, even early, by her proud parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Iverson who are new comers to Eastwood Manor. Club News The Tripoli card club met at the home of Marilyn Fultz on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Those present w'erg Pat Cisewski, Jackie Grom. Mary Thienes, Elaine Rogers and Marie Dalton. The next meeting will be held at Jackie Grom's house. In two weeks more fun and more Tripoli. Happy Birthday Jan. 15 is a busy day in Eastwood Manor. Kathleen Eternick, Hugh Saynor, Elaine Rogers and Ronald Malcolm i This and That Christmas is still with us. It lingers in a few hearts of the people in Eastwood Manor who remember the following celebrations. The Rogers home was quite a Busy place Christmas Day with lots of relatives coming and going. Elaine's mother, Mrs. Mildred Olson from Crystal Lake, began the parade by having dinner there. Then Elaine's aunt and uncle, the Orville Tronsens and the Bill Scheids and sons from Wonder Lake came and went. They were followed by Jack's mother, Mrs. Rogers from Mineral Springs and his aunt and uncle, the Ted Rothauses from Mc- Cullum Lake. A happy Christmas was had in the Rogers abode amid the paper and ribbon which covered the living room floor. The Cisewski family departed for LaCrosse, Wis., on Dec. 24. Tne scenery was spectacular on the way to spend Christmas with Pat's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Mason. They arrived home the following Sunday to report a wonderful time. The Rev. and Mrs. Carl A. Lobitz of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fernekes from Cary enjoyed a post-Christmas ; celebration at the home of Jerj ry and Luis Ryan, on Dec. 26. j New Year's Eve saw the Ray jLassards hosting an impromptu party with the William Har- | nesses, Ed Radners, Tim Mc- | Cormacks, Lee Hansens, Len Hansens, Len Lawrences, David Hadleys, Warren Krebs and Murray Alfords, all having a gay time. ' The Mersch family journeyed to Chicago New Year's Day for a family gathering at Matt's parents' home. Dinner was enjoyed and belated Christmas packages were opened making it a double holiday celebration. The first day of 1959 was enjoyed by Jackie and Bob Grom, Marie and Jack Dalton, Marge and Stu, who are friends of the Daltons, Mary and George Thienes, and their respective children at the Cisewski home. Pat served refreshments and the new year was off to a happy start in the Cisewski household; Jeanne and Milton McHale shared their good fortune with their neighbors. Present to partake of delicious food were Rev. Mclntyre, Joyce and Goran Engstrom, Pat. and Elmer Borcovan, Lee and Georger Landin and Georgiana and James Wilson, all pf Eastwood Lane and Lois and Warren Krebs of Country Lane. * Helen Birmingham was hostess to Lois McCormack, Betty Radner, Rita Simpson, Pat Coughlin, Marilyn Fultz, Edith Iverson, Frieda Durkin, Winnie Hansen and Marion Alford, on Jan. 5. Helen and her guests enjoyed a demonstration and the refreshments which followed. On Wednesday, Jan. 7 an old buddy of Warren's surprised him with a phone call inviting Lois and Warren to dinner in Chicago. Bill Mathers and Warren Krebs haven't seen each other since 1943 when they were in their air force together. Bill is from Houston, Texas. The Krebs had -a wonderful reunion with a dear friend. As you know due to illness Helen had to resign her post as a board member and it is not fair to still be bothering her at all hours of the day and night and wee hours of the morning. In the future if this should happen again please report the matter either by calling the Bottari residence at 2262-J or the Foster Glorch residence at 2044-R. dren riding on the school busses please warn them not to hang on to the back bumper and slide in this way while the bus is in motion. Several children have been seen doing this and this is a very dangerous game to be playing. Don't under any circumstances ever hang on to the backend of any moving vehicle. Short Vacation Sandy Bucaro spent one week in Chicago and on New Year's Eye she appeared on television on Chicago Bandstand. New Years Eve Party Tliis is just a little bit late in getting in, but the following group of friends got together for an old fashioned New Year's Eve house party, Rita and Bob Idstein, Mary and Ray Barle, Bev. and Jim Wickenkamp Marie and Norb Kwiatek, Rose and Charlie Kluk and Raie and Del Burns. The next day all were invited over to Mary Barle's for either coffee or tomato juice and I understand she served quite a bit of tomato juice. Welcome Back to Rose and Charlie Kluk who spent the Christmas holidays in Florida and returned in time to attend a New Year's Eve party. Mrs. Marie McDonald was the demonstrator for the evening and she had with her a student demonstrator. All the little girls and Tony are anxiously waiting for Maureen to return home with the new addition to this very beautiful family.
