Seeing your "Gin Friday", Helen Knox Busch. here at the beach and discussing "Way Back When" in McHenry made me realize just how quickly time does fly. Doesn't seem too long ago that you were, as now, an avid . fan of the Warriors when I was a tall, gangly cheerleader. Now I find I'm the fan with a •tall. K%angly son on the Ft. Myers Sr. High School track team. His dad has a couple of county 100 yard dash records from "way back" and looks like the son would like 'to hold his own in the event. At any rate, the, memories are pleasant even tho it does meqn a "few gray hair", or a "few less hair" as the ease may be. We manage to keep up on all the sport news from your column in the Plaindealer <*nd look forward to it every week. Sincere good wishes Lorraine Engeln Melsek Lorraine, you have no idea how pleased we are to have you write. We well remember those days when you were a very enthusiastic cheer leader. Our school was much smaller, but the loyalty has never been changed. So glad you keep up on McHenry sports news. Let us know how that gangly son makes out in track. We know his Dad's dashes went into the records. 'Just For Fun Skaters We have another letter from Florida from a former McHenry resident. George Wirfs. We northerners get a little kidding in this one about being busy sleigh riding and shoveling now. George says he remembers what snow looks like but hasn't seen any in a long time! He does remember getting stuck and having to get out and put on chains. Come to think of it. we got some word on George through the grapevine a while back. They claim he has the finest lawn in St. Petersburg and also ]>as a tomato plant in the back yard that bears the year round. But that lawn! He trims it with a barber shears once a week.
