St. Patrick's Party The St. Patrick's day party at St. Peter's parish hall on Tuesday afternoon March 17 was a great success. Approximately two hundred ladies attended and enjoyed an afternoon at cards and a chicken ala king luncheon. Many prizes were given away. The committee in charge wishes to thank all who helped make this party so successful. Hospital Patient John Retterath fell last week and broke his leg. He is a patient in a Harvard hospital. President Dorothy Diedrich conducted the usual opening ceremonies. Scout Leader, Ilaverne Gregory? presented Senior Girl Scout Troop No. 555 who sang several selections. The members enjoyed the girls singing very much and hope they will come back again to entertain ] us... An essay congest, open to both senior and | junior members, is now in proegress. Lillian Miller, chairman for Elgin hospital, announced a special party will be held at the hospital on April 27. This will be an eleventh district party and Mrs. Miller would like McHenry unit to be well represented. Elgin post has invited us to their Legion home after the parly at the hospital. Guests Charlotte Read and Belte Hayne were introduced by President Dorothy Diedrich. Mis. Read is the department 'hospital chairman for Downey hospital. Mrs. Read thanked McHenry unit for their splendid cooperation in entertaining at, the hospital. She pointed out how very much every little gesture of kindness means to the men at Downey. The veterans are now in the process of making poppies to sell in May. Anyone who can spare some time to go to Downey hospital to help the men with this project should contact Mrs. Marie Howe, 2210. The veteran derives a great deal of benefit from the sale of these .poppies and any help given him would be greatly appreciated. - Our auxiliary membership now stands at 322 which. is 2 over our quota for 1959. New member Marie Frett was introduced at Monday's meeting. President Diedrich presented a ten year honor guard pin to Gertrude Weber. Sunshine cnairman, Frances Matchen, sent sympathy cards to Helen Mauch, Kay Stilling and Mary Kantorski and get well cards to Rose Lee, Mary Miller, Mary Kantorski and Gladys Soucie. Contributing to the birthday bank for March were Janice Bauspies, Roslyn Volpendesta, Elaine Gray, and Dorothy Weichmann. Eleanore Reid and Carol Ann Zimny won special prizes. Social Chairman Pearl Pietsch and her committee served a delicious array of fingetf sandwiches from a table beautifully decorated in honor of St. Patrick's day.
