In place of it a<box lunch social and dance will be held on April 11. The dancing will begin at 8:30 p.m. and the box lunches will be auctioned off at 11 p.m. Pistakee Highlands famous M.C., Jack Rielly, will be in charge of all entertainment and refreshments. The proceeds will be donated to the Boy Scout tropp 129 of P. H. Ladies, make sure your baskets contain enough food for two persons. Lea's all make an effort to attend and make this a successful event. -It's A Boy • Little William Guy Hurckes born at Memorial hospital in Woodstock on March 12 rounds out the number to five handsome sons for Bob and Lorraine. William weighed in at 6 lbs. 1 oz. Congratulations to the happy family, it is one to be proud of. We would like to add that Geri Vrbik was substitute mother while > Lorraine was away. Easter Vacation Easter vacation began at 3 p.m. yesterday and all the children will be home until classes resume April 1. Happy Easter kids. This and That - Mrs. Lindeman's daughter, Marilyn, and her family spent Palm Sunday ^weekend--withthem. George and Marilyn Lammert entertained a few of their friiends last Saturday evening in their home. Those getting to gether for a lew hours of fun were the Dowds, Erbins, Shivleys and Morleys. Corky Peterson returned to school after spending two weeks home getting over a very bad cold and its complications. Happy birthday to Betty Griesbach who celebrated her birthday on March 17. Another happy birthday to two year old Carter Gregg who celebrated on the eighteenth of March. His grandparents and godparents were on hand to make sure the little fella had a happy day. Harold Peterson came home on the twentieth to spend a week with his family. The children hadn't seen him since Christmas and there was quite „ a. welcome in store for him. He leaves again this week for Mississippi. Roger and Pat Rogde were both out for the weekend visiting with Mom, Dad and Trudy. Jane Peloquin had a demonstration on March 18. The girls enjoyed getting out of the house for awhile and enjoyed Jane's delicious refreshments Ruth Lemmons, Mrs. J. Novotny, Vi Schuble, Betty Hart and a few more attended. <1 was unable to get all the names) Mrs. Pechous is home from ' the hospital," and feeling much better. Donna Dobecki is home from the hospital after having her eye operated on. It was a hectic week for mom and dad Dobecki and everyone is happy to hear that Donna's eye is all right. Wanda Dobecki entertained her card club last evening. Dolly Novotny, Carl a Bales, Janice Janquart, Dot Erbin, L o i s M a s o n a n d M a r i l y n (George) VanZevern were on hand to enjoy Wanda's delicious chocolate whip cream roll. The eighth members was unable to attend but we hear she called just to let the girls know she was still around. Happy birthday to Kirk VanZevern who will be 3 on March 31. He will celebrate with his grandparents Madock and VanZevern and greatgrandparents Dennis on Easter Sunday. Also on hand in the evening will be aunts and uncles, George and Marilyn VanZevern and family, and Dick and Mary Madock and family. Be on the look out for the balloon man who will be coming to the Johnsburg school in. April . Rushing Water Now that we have had our first real touch of spring, the water is flowing like young rivers along road sides ana through yards and fields.. The channels are also thawing and some children had to be chased away from them. Please, you as a parent, warn your children about the danger of the melting channels and the deep ditches of water along the roadsides. Water is tempting to a youngster and they should be taught the danger of it and respect it. "The News & Patter" The 'teenagers wish Delores Formella a speedy recovery, Delores has been home from school all week due to illness. Her friends miss her at school. Big Don Bentz is a very busy man these days, Monday he played basketball in the senior faculty game. Many ot the Highlanders attended the game. On Wednesday he went to Whitewater, Wis., to see about going to college. Jim Muszalski came to say good-by to the Schlicks and Barb. Wednesday evening he was their dinner guest, Jim's leave is up and he returned Thursday. Last weekend he gave Barb a weekend she will long remember. They attended a play and a dinner in Chicago. Barb, spent the weekend in there and Jim's parents took them out to a wonderful dinner on Sunday. , Many of the Highland Juniors have signed up to help with the work for the Senior prom. They hope to help make it a big success. The 'teenagers are anxiously awaiting their appearance on a TV program. We are sure the Highland 'Teens will make a very good showing and we will all be proud of their conduct on the program. We will all be watching for familiar faces. of the Sielischs, Kay had a very gooiS time having two girls to fuss over and make dinner for. After the Women's card party Tuesday evening some of the women took off for Johnsburg for pizza. They had & ball and the pizza was delicious. Congratulations to Mark and Tony Bentz who will be baptized Sunday in the Mount Hope church. We hope there will be many more following you. Some of the Senior girls metat Kathleen Mclnerney's home after a big dinner they attended. Reports are it was a mad house for awhile and a very good time was had by all who attended the get-together. Mrs. Healy and Mrs. Moran are patiently waiting for the weather to break so they can go into Chicago for a day of shopping and visiting. • Broadway and Meadow Lape looks like a parking lot, the hill is so muddy and full of ruts, no one can make the hill. It is really Mudville. We who live on the hill are waiting for the frost to leave the ground so we can get out and dp some road work. We are not alone with the bad road situation. No. matter where you travel the roads have taken a beating this winter. "News of Your Neighbors" Margie Osborne has been home from school all week with the measles. Neighbors can be wonderful, and Lorainne LindemanS^ can say that with much meaning. Tuesday she suffered a sudden illness while Judy Krumweide was there. Judy called Jane Peloquin and Betty Hart. Jane and Betty took her to the doctors and Bett.v stayed with her until she was back home and in bed. Herb took over when he got home and we hope Lorainne will be up and around very soon. Think we have bad weather? Kay Sielisch had a call from her mother in Michigan and they haveleight and ten feet of snow in their yards. Kay thinks it will be way in the summer before she goes home. By then the snow should be gone. Frank Krumweide and his brother. Don, went to Wisconsin Saturday to pick up their mother who will spend a few weeks with' Don and his family and before she goes back to the farm will spend a few days with Judy and the children. Lorainne Erdmann is on the sick list again. Bill Moreth is still in St. Therese's hospital in Waukegan with a bad heart. Joe Ullo has been home for the past two weeks with rheumatism and we feel for you, Joe, that is so painful. At this time Kenny Thoren is stilfhospitalized because of an eye injury. We wish you all a very speedy recovery and that when spring rolls around you all will be feeling fine. Women's Club Holds St. Patrick's Card Party The girls enjoyed an evening out Tuesday while they played cards. Among some of the hostesses for the party were, Lorainne Ullo, Mrs. Schnell, Mrs. Rheinhart. The Women's club, have a tour of a pottery factory in Dundee scheduled for the fifteenth of April, are under way for a buffet dinner for the last meeting of the Club in honor of the outgoing officers of the club. They have done a terrific job and merit it. Block Captains Meet March 25 There was a block captains' •meeting held in the Barn on .Wednesday March 25. Most enjoyable trip for Kay. Children's Easter Party Saturday, March 28 at 1:30 p.m. there will be an Easter party for all children through the eighth grade. There will be movies, popcorn and Easter baskets. Every child will receive a basket. Thanks to Ed Pfingsten. the Skipper--of--the Sea Scouts with the aid of the boys, turned out over 250 baskets. They did them like a production line, and the baskets were very beautifully done. On Saturday morning Skipper Pfingsten and the Sea Scouts will fill all the baskets with colored eggs and candy. The election will be on April 21, for the following named persons running for office: William J. Linden and Casimer J. Cios for village president; Leah M. Fritz, for village clerk unopposed, Harry Mackinson, Theodore Prell, Fred Garner, for trustees (full term) unopposed, Joseph Metzger and August Tomsa for trustees, (unexpired term, 2 year) unopposed. Home Burea We had a wonderful meeting with most of the members present plus some guests who joined before tl^e meeting ended. Sylvia Obstfelder did a wonderful job on die lesson 'The Dining Area." She had samples of paints, curtain material plus easy ways to change the furniture in your rooms to get the full use of them. Cake and coffee were served. The following day we found out that some mean person or persons took some hub caps" and mirrors off of some of the cars which sure spoiled everything. These stolen articles were Ihrown into the channel and some wei;e recovered when the' children were out playing. Don't forget our luncheon on April 2 at the Johnsburg Community hall. You can still'get some tickets from the members. „ . ' Dance I hope all of you have your tickets for the dance sponsored by the Fireman of Station 2 on April 4. After hibernating all winter and having an early Easter you should all go dancing and get the kinks worked out. Sick List As this column goes to press we have two victims in the hospital. Little 3 year old Mike Jablonski was operated on at McHenry hospital and in the Harvard hospital Jim Garrity is laid up with a bad knee. Birthday Party We didn't have any birthdays here that I knew about but Joe and Elizabeth Metzger and their family went to Waukegan Sunday in that awful weather to help their cousins baby, Richard Patrick, celebrate His first birthday. Besides the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schuster, and the Metzger family, both grandmothers " were .present, Mrs. Helen Harrer of McHenry and Mrs. Elizabeth Schuster. Elizabeth said it was a good thing they went because her cousin had such a wonderful turkey dinner prepared with all the trimmings, also some St. Patrick's day decorations because little Richard had been born on that day. Diplomacy is to do and say the nastiest things in the nicest way.
