A wedding breakfast was served in the home and a reception was held in the evening at the famous 666 Restaurant on the thirty-ninth floor overlooking Manhattan. The newly weds left scifm after to spend their honeymoon flying across the L\S.A. and Mexico in their brand new plane. Thoy will fly to Hawaii where they will make their home since Doug is employed there. Edward James Andrews.. and Carol Hautop of Chicago were married at St. Edward's in Chicago. Edward, who is serving in the Army and stationed in Anchorage. Alaska, will take his bride on a honeymoon, via auto to Anchorage where they will make their home for the present. Mrs. Bentz was a hostess for a church luncheon Wednesday. It was very successful and Mrs. Bentz served her famous twenty- four hour salad. Much to Don's sorrow, when he got urday evening. They report it was a very good show. The three Highland's 'teens who have been chosen to go to Rock Island, April 17-18 fofthe State choral contest from McHenry are Delores Formella. Barb Schlick and Bruce Novak. Delores will be entered in two contests for first place. It is most gratifying to the Highlanders to have such wonderful 'teenagers in our midst. ^Sunday evening there was an impromptu pizza party held in the Bentz home. Mrs. Bentz was busy all evening supplying them with sandwiches and pizzas. The 'teens who. attended had a ball, as they always do at the Bentz home. - Wre hope Pat Johnson is much better after being home from school a few days this week, due to an illness. Too much work catching up in school work right? Delores Formella and her parents will spend the weekend in Chicago visiting. He hopes to see all his buddies. Barb Schlick has been going to school half days so she can help her mother and take her to the Doctors. Barb is a most remarkable young lady. Her parents are proud indeed to have such an unselfish daughter. Cheer up folks this snow will soon be gone, I am afraid we were all much too anxious this weekend with our spring cleanup in the yards. People werebusv burning the weeds in the empty lots. All members of the association and their friends are welcome to attend. News Highlights Kenny Thoren had a cyst removed from his foot at McHenry hospital. Bill Moreth is well on the way to recovery and will be coming home from men of Pistakee Highlands, members or non-members, are most cordially invited to join the club and attend their meetings. So if you want to join you will be most welcome. A pot-luck dinner will be held April 29 at the community hall in Johnsburg at 7:30. Hope you will all make arrangements to attend. It will be a most interesting meeting and a wonderful evening is in store for all those who attend. Teen News and Patter The 'Teen club held a meeting April 6. They made a lot of progress in reorganizing the new club. The meetings will be held the first Monday of every month at eight o'clock. On the third Monday of the month a social evening will be held from 8 to 10 p.m., at which time new games and interests will be the order of the evening. Once a month a different activity will take place, such as bowling, horseback riding, etc. It will be a most interesting evening with many new games and activities in store for the 'Teens. From now on all new and old members must fill out a card stating their ages, interests, hobbies, etc. This met with a hearty approval from the 'Teens who are most'anious to have a club to be proud of and a club to fill their interests. They have taken a step in the right direction and she is so much better. Marie Schlick has been having a lot of pain in her ear, she went to the doctor this week and Friday she will see an ear specialist. Good luck Marie. The Eddie Dowds went to Chicago April 11 to spend the weekend Sunday. The four of them droVe Marcia's parents to the airport, where her folks will board a plane for two heavenly weeks in Acapulco, Mexico. Her folks maybe flying but Marcia intends to do some highflying in her mother's car for the two weeks. Take it easy. Marcia. Manv of Sally Jo VanBruenehenhein's friends gathered at her home April 9 to help celezing an active group of boys and girls. Last Friday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. the children met for an election rally to nominate their officers. The Pistakee Highlands 'teen club officers were invited to the preteen program to assist the procedure of nominating and voting. There was a parade and banners for their favorite candidates. We know that "you will all be glad to hear that little Donna Dobecki has completey recovered from her recent eye operation and will have good vision with out the aid of glasses. We know Don and Wanda were thrilled at the results. Terry Ozeinski and daughter, Debbie, visited with their grandparents, the Novaks, over Easter. We hear they got into a card game and Grandma lost all the pennies she has been saving for quite some time. You'll have to have a re-match real soon and try to win back some of that loot. On the twenty-ninth of this month Muriel Peterson will give a breakfast with the proceeds going to the building fund for the Mount Hope church. Although this will be given by Muriel it will be held in the basement of the Mueller home on High street. Time will be from 9 to 11 and juice, coffee and rolls will be served. Tld Bits of News We hope by now that Mrs. Pearl Smolinski is well on the road to recovery after her surgery last week at the McHenry hospital. All her friends and neighbors are anxious to see Pearl home again. Bruce Novak and his merry music makers entertained for the Chamber of Commerce recently at a nearby club. Happy birthday to Becky Zetterburg who celebrated her fifth birthday on April 9. This coming Saturday she will entertain a group of her friends. We are happy to report that Becky recovered from the measles just in time. Myrtle Bentz gave a dessert Box Lunch Social Don't forget the box lunch social at the community center on April 25. This is given i for the benefit of the boy scouts. Thisfis one way To get out for evening and still help a worthy cause. Little League The Little League has already held its first meeting. At this time officers for the coming year were elected. President Mr. Hauck, vice president This and That Most of Dick Morley's "family came to .enjoy the dedication of the Mount Hope church last Sunday along vyith Dick and his family. Afterwards they all returned to the Morley home for a pot-luck supper. George VanZevern represented Area 5 at the sectional speech contest for District 30, Toastmasters International, Wednesday, April 8 in Park Ridge. This Sunday at 8 p.m. all the Sunday school teachers for the church Will meet at the Morley home along with Rev. Swanson and Supt. Edward Thoren. The classes have been moving along in fine style and growing steadily. The committee for better government (incorporational) met at the home of Ra.y Novotnv last Wednesday. Those attending were Bob Heilgiest, Don Dobecki, Jack Erbin, Henry Zenner, John HaddockT Jim Bales, Lloyd Johnson and Archie Fletcher. The Cub Scouts will have a Father and Son evening at the Johnsburg school Thursday, April 16. The basketball and volley ball games begin at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were out to their home on MeadoW Lane over the past weekend. We hope it won't be too long before the Joneses will be permanent residents. Andy Brill is still nursing b,cinjured hand but has gotten rid of the flying saucer gadget he recently was toting around. He now has graduated to a leather glove with his fingers being Rulled back. It certainly is a long hard road back to complete recovery. I wonder how mdny parents were asked the same question I was last Thursday morning after the <jsnow fall the night before. Such as, "Gee Whiz how come we got snow again, Mother? I thought you said winter was over." Didn't we all. Mrs. Novak just now received a telegram from Germany giving her the wonderful j news that her son and daughter- in-law have presented her with a brand new granddaughter. She was so thrilled she called to share her happy news with us. Congratulations to all the family. Bye now, see-you next week. One doesn't have to live alone to feel lonesome.
