' Communion Well there was quite a bit of celebrating at some of our homes when our little ones received their First Holy Communion. Dever Casey and her sister, Linda, were the, important gals in their home and they had company in to help them celebrate. At the Harrington home they could have used wall stretchers for the forty guests who came to help Michael celebrate. His sister, Kathy, felt just as important, because she was one of the Angels in the procession. Pauline Schneider was the important gal at her house and had company on hand to wish her happiness. - M a r y C a t h e r i n e F r e d r i c k had her relations from Mc- Henry in for the day and I hope the pictures her dad took come out because our daughter, Dorothy, made her Communion also and is on all of them. ^ Much happiness is wished for all of these little Angels. The Garritty household entertained Mr. and Mrs. Criners and children from the city on Sunday. The occasion honored Gilbert Criners. who goes to Maryville academy and had received his First Holy Communion earlier that day. Jim Garrity is home for good from the hospital and he sure appreciated the mail from the village because I'm sure most of you know when you have to spend more than a week in a hospital it gets awfully lonely when you don't hear from the folks back home. tioch, and Linda, who staged at another sister's in Crystal Lake. Unforgettable Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Muleski just returned from a two week vacation in' and out of California along with Laura's mom. Mrs. Ethel Ring. Among the many unforgettable places they visited was Meramac Cavern. They stopped at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., to visit Laura's brother, Edward, went through the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, Hoover Dam and Moulder City. Spent a day and a half in Las Vegas. Then on to visit friends in Orange, Calif.. for two and a half days. From there they went to Disneyland, Knotts Berry farm and Ghost Town. Then off to the beautiful Golden Gate park over the Golden Gate bridge and into San Francisco, and then back again to Nevada and spent two days in Reno. Enough money was won to stay but it was time to turn towards home. They picked up son. Danny, who was with Marvin's mom in Trevor. Wis., Lou Ann, who was with Laura's sister in An- Cub Scouts There was a mother and son dinner at the McHenry Country Club. The Cub Scouts from Den 12 who attended with their mothers were Richard Fredrick, Jackie Roggenbuck and Corey Patterson. Mrs. Roggenbuck will be their new den mother starting next year. An Indian Chief from Michigan named Thunder Cloud was there with his family. A delicious chicken dinner was enjoyed by all. Sunnyside Estates BISHOP LANE CONFIRMS CLASS AT ST. JOHN'S by Lois Anderson SUMMER SCHOOL l Elgin High School is offering twelve credit courses and four non-credit courses during its summer term from June 8 to July 17. Registration will be May 23 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in room 139. Louis E. Bauer is director of summer school. Although Elgin High School has offered summer typing for five years, and 800 students have taken the course, this is the first year of the expanded program. The greatest remedy for anger is delay. The sacrament of Confirmation was administered last Sunday by Bishop Loras T. Lane of Rockford, at St. John's church. The reception of this sacrament makes a Catholic a "soldier of Christ", thus strengthening him in his faith. Fourth degree Knights of Columbus served as color guard in their impressive full dress regalia. ' Youngsters of Sunnyside Estates who were among the confirmands are Bill Davis, Dorothy Ann Kayler, Kathy Palmer and Patty and Don Vpight. Each family entertained relatives and friends following the afternoon ceremony. Weekend Trip Earl and Bernice Fry and children motored to Thorpe, Wis., last weekend for the graduation exercises of, her niece. Accompaning them for the occasion was Bernice's -mother, Mrs. Turenne of Volo. A Fisherman Frank Mann has been busily readying his newly acquired outboard for the coming fishing season. Upon answering an ad in the PLAINDEALER he was able to make a trade of a good shotgun for the boat. With a little fixing up he is now ready for the big one's he's been talking about all winter. Birthdays On Sunday, May 24, three of our young residents will observe another birthday, they are, Mark Davis, who will be 3, Donna Noah, 6, and Jerry Zeiger who reaches that famed age of 16. The next day, May 25, two young misses share a birthday; Mary Kanter will be 2 and Joanne Roy 7 Sarah Humphrey, who is the great grandmother of the Banker housiehold, adds one more to her calendar on May 27.
