1 Thursday. July 9, 1959 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Page Fiflee: Lakeland Park - URGE MEMBERS ATTEND LPPOA ^ MEETING JULY 12 ^kie Bottari--2262-J - 1524-J There will be a very important meeting of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association on this coming Sunday, July 12 starting at 7 p.m. sharp. There is going to be some very important matters discussed at this meeting, the most important one, and the one which I am sure we are & interested in right now, is the roads. A road assessment will be proposed, so let's. ALL, not just a limited few, attend this most important meeting,' because after all we do want the opinion of every one and also the approval from everyone to do what is best for,all of us, as the association is each and everyone of you and not the board as they cannot do a t®ng without ypur first approving it, so let's get out to the American Legion hall next Sunday night at 7 p.m. Vacation Bible School On Friday night the Community Methodist church held a service in conclusion of their two weeks vacation bible school at which time they displayed t-'ir crafts that they worked during these two weeks under the direction of Mrs. Veretta Gerstad, their music teacher, and Jackie Noel who taught sixth grade. Those receiving awards were Bruce and Beth Okal and Dell and Suzy Gerstad. Beaches There have been several chlltysn hurt down at the beach, so everyone going down there for a picnic, please see that all bottles and cans are placed in the recepticals placed there for this purpose. Happy Birthday To little Christine Sweeney on her third birthday which she celebrated on June 26 with members of her family. Wedding Last Saturday night at the M c H e n r y M e t h o d i s t c h u r c h Miss Roberta Hollenback of Lilymoor became the bride of Mr. Robert Humphreys oi Lakeland Park. The matron of honor was Bob's sister, Mrs. Dianne Warrell. Don Warrell, Bob's brother-in-law, acted as best man and Robert Bates as usher. House Guests At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Gerstad were Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Birkinbine from Sun Prairie, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Buttke from Madison, Wis., and then Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Birkinbine of De- Kalb were Saturday evening callers. Sympathy Our sympathy is expressed to Dr. Kessecker on the death of his wife. She is survived by one daughter. Mi's. Kessecker was buried last Monday in Cleveland, Ohj0 Dr. Kessecker ;ind his wife have been summer residents of Lakeland Park for quite some time. Visitors At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hoard for the past week were their godchild, Carol Lundberg, and her two sisters, Joyce and Linda, all from Chicago. Surprise Dorothy D a r g a t z , H e l e n Brooks, Dorothy Glorch, Doris iphnsorrrMnrgr? Rrbel and various assorted children brought a surprise birthday cake to the home of Mrs. Joan Burmann on the twenty-sixth of June. Omission In reporting the names of the pfre-teens who went, on the outing to Cedar Lake last week Barbara Murphy's name was omitted from' the list. Sorry $irbara, we'll try not to let this happen again as this is Ihe second time Barb's name has been omitted, the time before being when the girl scouts went to the zoo. White Elephant Sale The white elephant sale held last Sunday at the Legion hall by the Lakeland Park Women's club turned out to be a real nice success and we want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who in any way made this possible. The girls who had charge of this project did a lot of work on it and they really deserve a great hand. A Real Surprise There were two children at least who didn't even miss fireworks over the holidays. They were Bruce and Beth Okal who were so excited when their grandfather, J. Paul Cornett, flew his plane in from Colorado to visit them on the Fourth of July. Bobby Okal, who will be one year old this month, was treated to his first plane ride and Bruce and Beth flow back to Chicago where they will spend a few days with their dad visiting Ihe Trade Fair and seeing the fleet. Mail Delivery I know that all of you in Lakeland Shores must be quite happy over Ihe "door to door" mail delivery which finally got started for you on Monday, July 6. If you do not as yet have your mailbox in front of your own house do so as early as possible as this is a great convenience to all of us. Dogs Again the subject of dogs comes up, only this time it's about those who abide by the laws and regulations by keeping their dogs tied up or behind a fence in their own back yard. When animals are kept in this manner, it means to keep away from them, so will the children please not torment them, especially now with the weather getting much warmer animals do not want to be bothered, they too like to relax in the shade and be left alone. So let's just do this, keep away from them. Short Visit Visitors of our fair community for the Fourth were Mr. and Mrs. Vince Alesi and their daughter, Rosery. who at one time were residents on Shore Drive and moved away jusi about a year ago. It was sure good to see Gen anil the baby again although I must say Rofery- is no longer a baby, she is now 2-,_> years old and quite a big girl for her age. Happy Birthday Last Friday night the birthday club consisting of Lee Glorch, Marge Franklin. Esther Cygan, Jean Parisi, Elaine Jett and myself got together at "the home of Elaine Jett to celebrate this time the birthday of Fran Cilia who was the recipient of many lovely little gifts. Along for the evening was my mother who had been staying with me for the week. FAIR PREMH'M BOOKS All three State Fair premium books are now being distributed, according to J. I've been - asked to mention that we must have some youngsters who don't seem to want to see others enjoy themselves. The village was nice enough to fix up the beach and build a raft out in the water but it seems some smarty had to break off the ladder.. If something needs fixing why not report it and it can be taken care of, but why make it tough on the innocent ones. Caution Again I would like the parents to please caution their children who ride bikes. There are many days when the children are in the middle of the road and not looking where they are going or watching for cars. Drivers have to be extra careful because there are a lot of little ones in the village. 4-H Cardinals A special meeting was held June 30 at the home of their leader, June Stuart.
