NEW SALEM POPULAR More than a million persons were attracted to New Salem State Park during 1958 by the story and legends of Abraham Lincoln. Attendance at New Salem has steadily increased each year. In 1950 attendance was little more than 226,000. The 1958 attendance was 103- 794 greater than the previous year and the 1959 attendance is expected to increase by an even greater number. Special sesquicentennial observa n c e s of Lincoln's birth held throughout the year are expected to increase attendance at all Lincoln shrines to a record high in '59. Carl G. Hodges, head of the state's public information and travel promotion agency, says he expects the record of IOV2 million persons who vacationed in Illinois during 1958 to grow to 11 million this year. These vacationers, Hedges says, can be expected to spend a correspondingly greater amount than the $800- 000,000 they left in Illinois last year. HOT ROUS AND COLD CUTSUNBEATABLE SUMMERTIME COMBINATION Jv , >' Even when the temperature is 90 in the shade, most of us homemakers^ find'that our families want something hot along with that standard^ meal of cold cuts and salad. And hot rolls invariably win the nod. ^ And do you know, that you can make your very own yeast-raised rolls* for supper in just a little over an hour? It sounds impossible, doesn't it?® It used to be, but with this new quick recipe, it's true. The secredb' active dry yeast and biscuit mix, combined with water. The mixing ami" kneading time has been cut down to nothing. And the best thing of all is that these home made hot rolls ffive that short-cut cold meal a real,; appetite appeal, especially when you make these rolls with a sharpcheese flavor. .
