SEPT. 5 by Betty Hettermann The Labor Day weekend Isn't too far away anymore, and with it comes the annual dance sponsored by our own Johnsburg Rescue Squad. The squad members wish to extend an open invitation to one and all to attend this event. The dance will take place on Saturday evening, Sept. 5, at the Johnsburg Community club hall. Tickets can be secured from any of the squad members or can be purchased at Anytime in the - various business places. As usual a fish fry will open the festivities on Friday" evening. A roast beef dinner, will be served at noon on Sunday. Full details will be given in next week's ! copy of this column. Around the Town Hank and Clare Nell of Sunnyside Beach took off last Friday for Hayward, Wis., where they spent several days visiting Joe Nell. Hettermann's Softball team, their wives and children gathered cm the community club grounds last Saturday evening for a group picnic. The Harry Freund family left on a two week vacation trip early last Sunday morn- ' ing. They will spend sometime visiting her family in southern Illinois and then go on to Hot Springs, Ark., to visit her aunt and uncle. MrS. Elizabeth Mills, sister of Clara Adams, arrived here last week to spend a short vacation with her. Mrs. Mills, who drove here from Texas, left Monday 'morning to spend a few weeks with her daughter in Kalamazoo. Last Sunday she and Joe and Clare were guests in the Art Wagner home in Grays Lake. Gerry and Marcella Wakitsch and their six children spent last weekend up north camping and fishing. . Sunday afternoon' guests of Mrs. Helen Hettermann were Mrs. Kate Weingart and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Laures of Mc- Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Amann of Mundelein and Mr. and Mrs. A1 Pepping Sr. Carol Ann Stilling returned to St. Coletta's school after a six "weeks vacation here. Susan Pitzen is now enjoying her summer vacation with her family, the Lewis Pitzens. If you can't find a book worth reading, try to write one worth writing. Juvenile Outing y If you haven't picked up your daughter's permission slip for the Forester outing to Rox Park on Aug. 12. please do so in the next week. Parents' signature are needed on S these slips in order for your ; daughter to attend the outing. Laura Sehmitt or Nancy Weber have the consent slips and will be happy to give you one if your daughter is a court member. They should be turned in by Aug. fi. A small fee of twentyfive cents per person will be collected on the day of tjie outing. Each family is asked to bring one dish to pass. Girl Scout Display In case you should be planning on attending the county fair in Woodstock on Aug. 6. 7. 8 or 9, be sure to inquire about our own girl scout display. Troop 135, under the leadership of Lu Ann Smith and Ethel Rad will have a display on the fair grounds ready for judging. You will remember that last year these girls won first place in their class.
