Girl Scout and Brownie News A Halloween discussion was on the agenda for the past two meetings of girl scout troop 408. The girls decided upon holding a Halloween party at a future meeting. Last week they cut out pumpkins, cats and witches. Games were played at each of the meetings followed by a goodnight circle. Troop 295 made fall centerpieces for their mothers from the leaves they collected at a previous meeting. Games were enjoyed by the girls after which Carol Ann Dehn served as cookie hostess.. Stratton 'reported that preliminary figures show Illinois traffic accidents claimed 139 lives last month, 22 per cent fewer than the 178 fatalities in September, 1957. Oblinger of Springfield, Counsel for the Illinois State Medical society, spoke before the McHenry County Medical society and auxiliary at Memorial hospital in Woodstock last,, evening. The meeting was held to consider medical legislation in the National Congress and the Illinois General Assembly. In attendance were State Senator Robert McClory, state representatives Mrs. Ferne Carter Pierce, John Manning, A. B. McConnell and Elmer J. Hoffman, congressman for the 14th Congressional district. Mr. Oblineer, who is, responsible for medical legfslation a n d who i s e d i t o r o f t h e Springfield Newsletter, a medical publication, and a former FBI agent, was introduced by Dr. John R. Tambone, president of. the McHenry County Medical society. Mr. Oblinger reviewed the record of the 7 1 s t G e n e r a l A s s e m b l y , a n d spoke on the Forand Bill which he charged was "bad medicine" for the people of this country and that it would lead to nationalization of the medical profession. He warned that physicians must take an interest in legislation and take part in politics, if necessary. Guests also included Circuit Judge William Carroll and County Judge James Cooney.
