Mr. "Redman sales manager for Encyclopedia Brittanica, was on a business trip for the firm when stricken. He was bqrn June 6, 1897, in Greyville, 111. Survivoi-s include his wife, Ruth; a son, Harold, of Centralia; and a brother,, Marion Redman, of Chicago. The body was ^turned to the Peter M. Justen funeral home, where Rev. RENALDO ROLLA Renaldo Rolla, 58, a resident 120 Lakemoor, for ten yearS died Oct. 31 in McHenry hospital after many years of poor, health. He had been conffAd to the hospital only five days. -Mr. Rolla was born Nov. 24, 1901, in England. He was a machinist by trade, and a member of the machinists' union in Chicago. Survivors are the wife, Rosemary; one daughter, Sylvia, at home; a brother, William, of Chicago; and a sister, Hilda Clark, of Detroit. ^ ^he body was taken to the Westfall chapel in Chicago, then returned to the George R* Justen & Son funeral home on Monday. Ruys, 82, who raided with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Wood, at 603 Charlotte 'avenue. Country Club subdivision, died early Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the McHenry hospital after an illness of several weeks. " The deceased was born in Holland on March 5, 1877. She came to McHenry with her daughter about two-and a half years ago. 'Other survivors include an- 3per daughter, Mrs. Betty Prey, of Chicago; two sons, ^lohn B. and Bernard, both of Chicago; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She Was the last of seven children. Services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon from the Peter M. Justen funeral home, with interment in McHenry County Memorial Park, near Woodstock. Rev. Jack Mclntj£ e of nFaith Presbyteria church officiated. 4-H Cardinals Twenty-two members and guests were present at the Halloween party on Oct. 28. 4-H leader, June Stuart, had the tough job of judging the costumes. The winners of the best costumes were Margaret Frisby as an old man, Ida Leaky as a paper doll and Carol Niemiec as a flapper. The girls were divided into groups to go on a scavenger hunt around the village and there were many of us who helped the girls get the things that they had to bring back. Refreshments were served to climax an eventfull evening. The next meeting of the 4-H Cardinals will be at the home of Sherry Nellis on Nov. 20. ANNOUNCE FREE TESTING CENTERS IN DIABETES WEEK Facilities for testing all members of the community for diabetes have , been arranged and will be available during Diabetes Week, Nov. 15 through 21, it was announced by Mrs. June Okeson, R.N., chairman of the diabetes detection drive in McHenry county. The simple test for diabetes is painless and can be taken in a minute. The only thing needed is a urine specimen, collected in the morning, placed in a small, clean bottle and labeled with the name of the individual, his address and the name of his physician. * The McHenry hospital will be open t& the public, Monday through Friday, as a free testing center. All specimens should be brought into the hospital laboratory-, between the hours 9 a.m. to noon. Testing stations have also been established at the oiffices of Dr. Frank W. Sek and Dr. William Nye. Dr. S. L. Ruggero will have his office open to the public, as a free testing center, in the Wonder Lake area. If the test is positive, both the individual and his doctor will be notified. The individual will be advised to see his.physician for further examination. The diabetes detection drive is sponsored locally by the McHenry County Medical society and nationally by the American Diabetes association. Its aim is the detection of the one million unknown diabetics in America today. Retirement Banquet ., On Wednesday Sue Schuman left her little ones with her mother so that she could attend a retirement party for a former boss for whom she had worked. Sue said there must have been over fifty former workers who were able to attend. I hope you are making plans to attend St. John's Home and School bazaar on Sunday, Nov. 8. starting at 10 a.m. and continuing on towards evening. Have you all turned in your slips that the school children brought home stating what you would be able to donate? The bakery goods should be brought in Sunday, as early as you can. Redman. 62, of aaaaanaaaaagaanamaa • Fine Spring Grove Man; Youth Taken To Court Edward Jessie, 17, of Spring Grove was charged $25 and costs of $13.30 by Justice of the Peace Joe Ritter in Woodstock for driving with possessing open liquor in his car. A 15-vear-old boy, Everett Vondra, of Fox Lake, who was riding with Jessie, was turned over to county court. He appeared before Judge Cooney and the case continued. Vondra is reported to have admitted that he purchased the liquor. More than half of the rabies cases diagnosed in the midwest are found in skunks. The hall was decorated and favors were in keeping with the Halloween season. A scavenger hunt was a part of the entertainment and groups who returned first with their loot received prizes. Cider and doughnuts were served. The Methodist Church Youth Club enjoyed a hay rack party on Sunday night. They were alsp served refreshments in the town hall after their hay ride. The eighth graders of St. Peter's school held their party in the parish hall after school on Friday afternoon. Games were played and a lunch was served. Trophy Awards The awards for the teams who won the most football games in the grade school league were presented at Emmans school, Antioch, on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Emmans school received the trophy for first place and English Prairie won second place. Other standings were Lotus school, third; St. Peter's fourth; Spring Grove fifth. Emmans had won three and lost one. English Prairie had won two, tied one and lost one. The trophys were presented by Leslie Gilmore, principal of Lotus school. One of the coaches. Ted Finger, made and donated two trophy cases. These were given to the winners. The coaches tell me they expect to start the boys in basketball about the middle of November. Club Meets Members of her club met at the home of Mrs. Annie Sanders on Wednesday afternoon. Five hundred was played and Pag® Five prizes went to Mrs. William Engels, Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Frank Tinney and Mrs. William Britz. A lovely lunch was served after cards. Lotus Club Met at the home of Mrs. Martha Schueneman at Nippersink Manor, Genoa, on Wednesday Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. Following the meeting and a social afternoon a delicipus lunch was served. Bake Sale Ladiies of the WSCS of the Methodist church are sponsor- 'ng a bake sale to be held in the fire house on Saturday, Nov. 7 starting at 1:30 p.m. Party A Success Approximately 160 ladies attended the card party and luncheon held at St. Peter's hall on Tuesday afternoon. A turkey dinner was served and the afternoon was spent at cards. Many prizes were given away. The committee wishes to thank all who helped make this party such a huge success. Florida Vacation Wade and Lillian Sanborn left this week for their home in Crvstal River, Fla. They will spend the winter months there. Hospitalized We were sorry to hear that Mrs. Jennie Landrock had been in St. Therese's hospital for over a month. She had been seriously ill but is now slowly improving. She is very grateful to all her friends who donated blood.
