Last Saturday the Snells left for a week's v Station in Chicago, where they visited with friends and relatives. ^Phe Herb Lindemanns were New Year's Eve guests of the B1J1. Norths. The Lindemanns spent last Sunday with their sflh, Harry, in Chicago. ' Ikay Sielisch enjoyed a de lieious luncheon on Michigan avenue with her cousin, Bill Patterson, Jan. 8. Kay has not sdfen Bill since they moved out here and they had *<^dles of family gossip to catch up on. ^The Bernard Mayers spent last Sunday visiting Gladys' gO-1 friend in Lake Villa. Zlack Rathnow is doing wonderfully and so very happy to out of the hospital. Jack still requires extensive treatnfll& nt but it is easier to take v®en you are with your loved ones. Marie Schlick accompanied Mamie O'Neill last Monday to Woodstock where Mamie .took her driver's license test. Barb Schlick, along with her dancing partner, took second place at the Jim Lounsberry Hop held New Year's Eve in McHenry. They will appear on the Lounsberry program Jan. v-- 16, Co compete with other recent winners. Frank Krumwiede's brother and family, the Bud Krumwiedes, from E)es Plaines, were Sunday visitors of Frank's and Judy's. Frank and' Judy were guests of Bud and family last Friday evening. Milton Crosdale -escaped injury last Friday when his car was wrecked. The Taters and their family enjoyed dinner with the Bill ^chlicks last Saturday. It was a birthday dinner for Marie's god-child, Terry. Sunday, Marie's sister and family, the Kaisers, were dinner guests. The Taters are from Rolling Meadow and the Kaisers from Chicago. Progressive Bunco For Next Woman's Club Meeting At the Jan. 27 Woman's club monthly meeting the women will" enjoy an evening of progressive bunco so mark the date on your calendar. Beekstroms Mark SO Years ' Of Marriage 'Elmer and Nellie Beckstrom of 405 Fox Lake Road celebrated thirty years of marriage Jan. 4. They had a party at their friend's place of business1 on Lake Geneva Road, Saturday, Jan. 9. The Kempers :aided them in all the preparation. Among the guests were the Richard Orlowskis, Nellie's sister and husband, the G. S. Kings, D. J. Parises, F. Rohdes, F. Kempers, P. Eedlauks. Highland News Items Complaints are pouring in about the dogs running loose again. Folks seem to think in this weather a dog cannot do much damage ,but they can and do. It is always the same dogs that are allowed to run and the folks are getting pretty fed up with them. Please keep your dog at home, before it is picked up and it will cost you a pretty penny to retrieve it. The Tomaos have returned from BrooklyA' New York. They had a most wonderful two weeks and visited*, many of the famous landmarks. The executive board held a meeting Jan. 5, at the home of president Howard McCreery. Even though the January and February meetings have been cancelled the board remains very active. * We are happy to have another new family settle in the Highlands. This coming Tuesday, Jan. 19, another ^meeting s of the Johnsburg school P.T.A. will be held. Topic of the evening will be^ mental health., There will be a speaker for the evening and it should be very interesting to everyone. The regular meeting will be presided over by President Janquart and hostesses' for the evening will be the fourth grade mothers. The annual Fun Fair for this year will be held on April 9, at the school. Plans are already being made and any items for the white elephant sale twill be gratefully accepted. A bake sale booth and many freshments will be. available for those tiho might like a little nourishment. The tim» is from 5 to 9 and we hope for a big successful day. Around The Highlands Marcia Dowd and children spent New Year's Day with her parents, the Dickmans, in Chicago. Marica's aunt and uncle were dinner guests of the Dickmans also. Don and Wanda Dobecki and Jim and Carla Bales went downtown last Tuesday evening hoping to see a musical play but unfortunately the tickets were all sold out so they saw a movie instead and afterwards enjoyed a nice dinner. Carol Erbin attended a birthday dinner for one, of her friends last Thursday after school. A belated Christmas dinner was held on Jan. 3. Don and Wanda Dobecki were guests of Hugh and Eleanor Locker in McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Risto have returned home from F l o r i d a where they went to spend the Christmas holidays with their daughter. It has once again come to our attention that the children who wait for the bus on that corner are just tearing and ripping if to pieces.
