In view of chis mroh enthusiasm the Property Owners advisory board plans to continue to bring instructors as long as the youngsters turn out to learn. Registration took most of the afternoon Saturday classifying the age grdups, and assigning them a time. Youngsters ranging in age - from 3 to tq^ts were there. The ice is in good condition at Wonder Center beach and the instruction Saturday will be on the ice. Late registration is beiny vaken by Jim Robison at Dean's Market all this week. 'Teen-agers are encouraged to come Saturday. '• Three instructors are expected and 150 youngsters. We are told that even though you know how tb these men can help you improve and enjoy the sport more. I960 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER P% Re-Zoning Petition A petition to re-classify twelve lots in Oakwood Shores subdivision |rom "R-l" to "B". Community Business District, will be heard by the Zoning Board of Appeals Feb. 2, at 3 i. )n the McHenry city hall, rhese twelve lots are located along the Wonder Lake blacktop and on either side of the single road entering the subdivision. According to T. P. Mathews since there is but one road in and out of the subdivision, more than half of the 12 lots would, be used for parking lots in the shopping area, and th^efore the re-zoning would not constitute a traffic hazard on the blacktop. Garden Club Meeting Members of the Wonder Lake Garden Club answered roll call telling "How to care for a gift plant", when they met at the Bull Valley home of Mrs. Dorothy McEachren, Jan. l'WMany tips on keeping house plramts alive and in bloom were given. Mrs. Charles Kopp gave the lesson titled. "Flower Show Procedure". Points on the staging of a successful flower show which Mrs. Kopp covered were the time, place and natilre of the show, choosing committees, 'outlining their duties, and selection of the judges. *f£ach club member has been busy setting up a terrarium, using bottles, jars and many other' glass containers. The most outstanding one, the membership agreed,, was made by Mrs. Leon Switzer. A card received from Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cannon who are visiting in California was read aVthe meeting. Delicious cake afire coffee were served by the hostess following the adjournment of the meeting. Three youths- one from McHenry, one from Woodstock ahd one from Chicago--apprehended by local police as they took bulbs from the Christmas tree on the safety island ,on Front qstreet recently, were fined two dollars and costs last Saturday when they appeared in court. Money to cover cost of the bulbs has been turned over to the Chamber of Commerce. A local resident apprehended on a disorderly conduct charge in the city the week previous appeared in court last Saturday and was fined twenty- five dollars and costs.
