Thursc February 4. I960 THE MdJENHY PLAINDEALER Page Thlriidm Lakenu VILU6E ACTS ON ROBLEM OF tjtAINAGE . BI Annette Schmit ^ I -^1 Thispast week s4w some action / the drainage problem on tlI intersection of „ Riverside pve and TiaJJuana. Our villa/ president, Claude Mc- Deriptt, contacted the Northern /llinois Gas C6: in an efforfito find the source of the prqlem. On the first day,- the coipany sent a pumper out tg with six or seven men, worked feverishly to elimiiyte the water. The second another pumper arrived on_ scene and with other equipment, set to work finding /roken tiles and replacing several of them. Although the broken tiles were not due to the recent laying of gas lines, the company bent over backwards to help this village out o^their dilemma. They found places in the sewer that** had broken open from roots and also sections where home owners had hooked into the sewer line. Tiles were dug out and replaced near the Gorgo residence arid at the Dralle residence as well as many other spots. Mr. McDermott spent three days, from early morning until qSftting time, with the men on the crew. The village appreciates the kind offer of equipment by the Gas Company and realizes that they had done us a great favor. We are indeed grateful. There is still much work to be done on this drain however, and there are still the spring thaws to consider. The water i^gjthe injmediate area has now subsided and all are breathing now with relief. she's growing too. She was nine years old on Thursday. Jan. 28", and blew all the candles out, too. Many happy returns, girls. Slightly Dented Tell tales out of school, but I hear t'mt Pop Atkins really did jt up good around the turn of the year. The old jalopy just couldn't take it anymore after that last crack-up. Dad got another car now, but he's pretty leary of those slick roads we've been getting on and off this winter. As for daughter, Marilyn Taylor, she too had hef share of damage on her car and decided to stay "in Chicago during the week and just travel out to, see the folks on the weekend. -- Chicken? Quite 111 Received word this past week that our. dear friend. Beaulah Vachet, has been very seriously ill in McHenry hospital. As most folks now, Beaulah has suffered with a bad »art for some time. Mr. Ichet, village treasurer, returned home from McHenry on Wednesday Jan. 20, to find her in very bad condition. He managed to get her to the hospital immediately where she was kept under oxygen for several days 1>?ts have disclosed that a blood clot is lodged behind her heart and attempts are being made to dissolve it. jJ know that Beaulah will be ^d to see or hear from some of her friends while she is in the hospital. Do get well real soon, dear one, and get on back home. The crocus are just about to peep through the ground and. you can't look at them from a hospital bed. Two Birthdays The Atkins family has done i^again. Suzie Atkins has just become a legitimate teenager. She turned thirteen on Jan. 27 but celebrated her birthday the Sunday before. She's quite a gal, you know! And pretty as a picture. And Patty Atkins, For Ideal Winter Comfort ^ ask your WARM AIR HEATING CONTRACTOR About The Dibert Pressurizer Surprise Visit Gosh, when you pack your son off to College at Christrftas and say goodbye, you really don't expect to see him again until Easter. Such was not the case for Mr. and Mrs. Harry B r a d y .
