McHenry Shores LIST SLATE OF CANDIDATES FOR CLUB OFFICES By Glare Mueller, EV. 6-0553 The regular meeting of the McHenry Shores club held last Thursday was the first one ever attended by your reporter that was considered an orderly and well conducted meeting with fifty-three members present. The meeting was called td order by Mr. Liss at 8:27 and all business was transacted by 9 p.m. This allowed plenty of time for the group to enjoy their cake and coffee and time to chit-chat with their neighbora. The nominating committee .presented the following candidates to run for office at the ^election to be held at the next regular meeting. March 3:, Jfrjresident - Jack Schmitt, senior 7 vice-president - Willis Coates vmo withdrew in favor of Ing "Corcoran who was nominated from the floor, junior vice-president - D a i s y Smith, treasurer - Bob Tanner, recording secretary - Angeline Moravec, corresponding secretary - Irene Mueller, sergeantat- arms, Gordon Hattan, Trustee - Jacjt Risting Who will be opposed from the floor by Jerry Olbinski. Write in candidates will be acccepted before the election at next month's meeting providing they are members in good standing, their consent assured for acceptance of office and a resident of McHenry Shores for at least a year. To be eligible to vote, a member must be in good standing by having his dues paid for the calendar year. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the recording secretary, Mrs. Corcoran, and should be returned to her in a sealed envelope no later than five days preceding the election. Mrs. Viliam, a new member, was welcomed by the members present. Mrs. Olszewski, junior vice-president and chairman of the ways &nd means committee, plans a square dance after the election of officers at the March meeting. She asks for volunteers to help the women of her committee make those delicious finger sandwiches that they served some time back. Marge and Bill I^inkonsly heard the wonderful news that, they were grandma and grandpa on Jan. 29. Their son, Bill, a n d d a u g h t e r - i n - l a w , J o y c e , presented them with a six pound grandchild. The baby was named William Russell and was born at Luthern Deaconess hospital in Chicago. Lou Poggensee called to give us more birthday dates at their house and we filial that we owe her a belated happy birthday, as she celebrated hejs on Jan. 17, and we find that her hubby, Bob, is a Valentine baby . . There's been a lot of birthdays at the Schramms' house this past week but this one saves Jack an extra present as Gloria's also falls on Valentine's Day . . , And a happy birthday also to Dolores Stark who will celebrate hers next Thursday. . . • „ Aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends who were out to help celebrate-little Gail Guilder's second birthday were Mr. and Mrs. George Gunder, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gunder and family and Mrs. Sedgwich with her family. the above group were all from. Palatine while Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gould and Mr. and Mrs. David Floor with their family came over from Gurnee. Sore Mus*cles A group composed of SSAC members, took over a gym at the McHery-y high school one evening last week and had a breath taking game of basketball. Most of the players awakened with stiff legs the next morning and several complained of blisters. The team known as the Skins Tom Burke, Gordy Hattan. Ray Moore, Ray Olszewski and Jack Schmitt; beat the Shirts: Art Brunke, Ed Olbinski, Clare Schweikert, Fred Stark and Chuck Whitney by a very close score of 38 to 36 Steve Schweikert acted as referee and Clare Mueller was the scorekeeper. The next bout with the elusive baskets is planned for Feb. 16. Come on and join the bunch, they sure can use some more players. From there they went to Gordy's sisTer's home, Mr. *nd Mrs. William Stout in Wooddale to congratulate the couple on * the birth of their second son, Steven, and finally over to Lake Villa to wish little Corey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hattan, a happy birthday . . . Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schweikert and family were guests of Mr.- and Mrs. Howard Boe in Broadview . . . Mrs. John Verstege spent a day in Chicago with old friends and neighbors. The group played pinochle at the home of Mrs. Konefus. The following day, she and Jack had dinner in Chicago, at the home of a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kulasik . . . The Muellers took advantage of a sunny afternoon and dropped in on Mr. and Mrs. John C. Milton in Lake Forest. Miss Maureen Cech was a weekend guest at the Cicchinis. . . Friends of the Zeimets, Mr. and Mrs. M. Kallas dropped out for a visit. . . . Helen and Gus Smith entertained Mr. and Mrs. W. Kropp of Wauwatosa, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Black, Helen's sister, were also weekend guests and took Mrs. Hawk home for a visit with them in Detroit, Mich. . . Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bresnen of Meadowdale, with their children, were over to visit the Sfchmitts. . . The Dobbertins entertained Bob's folks, the senior and junior Rein Dobbertins with their families, with a supper and all had a pleasant evening, Betty's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Wally Mursawski with grandmother,' Mrs. John Pawlawski, were out for a Sunday 'dinner. Just News & President of the V.F.W. auxiliary, Daisy Smith, extends an open invitation to all in the area to attend the open house, Saturday, Feb. 27 to help celebrate the completion of the new wing that was recently added on to the V.F.W. clubhouse. . . Jack Verstege was one of the jovial waiters at the chili supper served last Sunday at St. Mary's church. . . Airman 2nd Class, Donald Schwiekert, has, organized another skin diving club at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kans. - . Remember to call me if you have any news. I will be glad to hear from you. SERVICE NEWS Steven J O'Neill, airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh J. O'Neill of Route 3, McHenry, is serving with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Four aboard the support aircraft carrier USS Yorktown operating with the U.S. Seventh Fleet in the Western Pacific. The squadron arrived in the Far East in January to take an active part, in the fleet's anti-submarine warfare operations.
