Bill Pries, Sr., added a notation to the card which explains the title. It seems a Federal Judge of Cleveland, Ohio has ruled in a case in favor of "Florida Sunshine" being deductible medical expense. With income tax payment time breathing down our necks, it is a little late for this year! However, we can file this card away and see if we can get a doctor to advise a trip next winter. Or, how about a trip to the north woods next summer? Thapt should be deductible^ Your Honor. Loren Miller and Jack Arseneau led Richmond with 32 and 14 points respectively. Johnsburg had five men hit double figures with Don Betitz leading the way with 23. A Johnsburg rally in the fourth quarter defeated a stubborn Woodstock team. Woodstock, defending champions from last year, saw a fifteen point lead dwindle under a fourth quarter Johnsburg surge. The game started out a real thriller with the lead changing hands frequently. At the end of the first quarter Woodstock lead by one. Johnsburg and Woodstock were even at the half 37-all. On May 22, we are holding our first- benefit Scrambles Race. All proceeds are to go to the Mental Health Center for McHenry County. During the winter we have been discussing the possibilities of holding a Scrambles Race for some worthy cause. In our research, we happened to hear of the Mental Health Center. After hearing of this Center, a number of members of our club spoke to Mr. Stanley Blumberg, the Administrative Director. Our interview with Mr. Blumberg revealed many acts about mental illness and his Mental Health Clinic. When weighed carefully at our next meeting, the s e facts brought unanimous approval. The Mental Health Center can now count on, our help. Here are just a few facts which we considered. One out o f e v e r y t e n A m e r i c a n s a r e suffering from mental disorders. This amounts to seventeen million Americans. At present we have approximately 1,200 Mental Helath Clinics in the United States and most of these are pall time. We need at least 3,300 full time clinics. This amounts to one clinic for every fifty thousand people. There are more people hospitalized for mental illness than all other diseases combined. The Mental Health Center for McHenry County gives services free to any persons who cannot afford treatment. A nominal charge is asked of all persons who can afford treatment. The Center operates mainly from private contributions and a small amount of State aid. By helping the Mental Health Center for McHenry County we will be directly helping the citizens of our community. We will be helping those citizens who are mentally disturbed, regain a normal life and become an asset to the community. We will continue, as in thie past, to work for the betterment of our community.
