While there Lorraine visited with her sis- Let's Dance April 23 It's the fund raising dance we are referring to. The proceeds from the dance will help to buy playground equipment and picnic tables for our beaches. Everyone is welcome, not just Highland residences. Tickets are being sold and they j will be available at the door the night of the dance. It will begin at 9 p.m. and plans are being made for an enjoyable evening. It's the first Saturday after the Easter holiday and we hope to see a good turn out. SJsters have to get them. Also 8dogs that run in packs can tear 3 a child apart in minutes. On April 9 the 'teens are having a "turn about dance" in the Muellers basement. The girls will dress as boys and the boys as girls. There will be a 25 cent fine for those not appropriately dressed. Jill Rielly, Trudy Rogde and Marion Mueller attended the sweet sixteen party for Cookie Thompson on April 2 in McHenry. Happy birthday to Skip Peo who celebrates his ceive word that her young niece has been released from the hospital after being there for two weeks with the virus. Bob and Lorraine Hurckes were in Arlington Heights to celebrate the anniversary of Bob's parents. Jack Erbin was gone most of last week on a business trip to Ohio. St. John's Home and School Association In spite of the dense fog last Monday evening there was quite a turnout for the regular association meeting. The election of officers had to be postponed until next meeting. They could secure officers for every office but the president's. The cook books will be on sale at all stores and gas stations in Jofensburg. Father Anger gave a wonderful talk on vocations. There was an open house for the parents and many of the Highlands parents welcome this meeting. It gives them a chance to find out first; hand what their children are doing in school. As soon as the elections are over we will give you the names of the new officers for the next term. Jack Rathnow Re-Enters Hospital We are so very sorry to report that Jack Rathnow was taken back to Columbus hospital in Chicago, March 27. Jack had just returned to his home after months of illness. We are sure cards from his friends and neighbors will give him a terrific boost. Birthday and Anniversary Milestones Belated and happy birthday greeting to several this week. Chairman Roy Snell held a meeting to acquaint hirriself with the captains 'of the McHenry hospital fund drive. Rose Farvyell, Jane Malek, Leo OrlowSki and Kay Sielisch were in attendance. A large delegation from the Highlands attended the Democratic Woman's club rally held in the Methodist church in McHenry, April 6. MrS. Louis Krumwiede was very happy to see her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Long of DesPiaines last Sunday. It was a nice sight indeed to see two civic minded boys, last Sunday, spending most of the day going about their area opening clogged culverts and drain ditches. A big vote of thanks to Lee Johnson and Ron Spankuch. Leo Orlowski was very happy to have his sister, Mae, and brother-in-law, George Kitrush spend the weekend with them. The Kitrushes are from Nekoos, Wis. Sunday afternoon Lil's lady friend, Gertrude Alberths of Chicago, arrived to spend a few days. Roy and Gert Snell were called to Clinton, Iowa to attend the funeral of Roy's cousin, James Wight who died Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. Roy and Gert just returned from there a week ago. We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Roy. Agnes Wroblewski returned from the hospital last Tuesday and she is feeling wonderful. Her sister came out to stay with her for a couple of weeks to give her a hand until the bandages are removed from her eye. April 3, the Ted Wroblewskis' baby daughter, Patricia, was baptized in their church in Oaklawn. Ted's sister, Marge Waidin was godmother. They enjoyed a family get together. April 1, Blanche Haefliger was hostess for a demonstration. We are most happy to report that Mrs. Elmer Martineau and Kay Vanatta are home from the hospital and feeling mucfi better. Blanche Haefliger, president of the Woman's club, asks that the members who plan to attend the pot-luck dinner April 26, at the Johnsburg community hall please call and make your reservation so they can plan for enough food. , Each member who plans to Mtend is required to bring some iteffi of food.
