MAY 1 s t This ideal has come closer to realization in our America than in all but a few other countries. But, in a large part of the world there is no sharing of such good fortune. For many people, the court house doors may not even be open---or else the decisions rendered are too often only the first step to a concentration camp. In recognition of the essential role of Law in this country as the safeguard of individual freedoms, May 1 hat been proclaimed LAW DAY U.S.A. In grim contrast, this tame day In cor* tain other nationt will witness an entirely different kind of May Day celebration. There, citizen will parade before rulers who use taw, not to provide justice for the individual, but to perpetuate their own 'dictirtorthip. We take thlt Opportunity of LAW DAY U.S.A. to salute the men and women--poett, lawyers, philosophers, judges, teachers, and just plain cititens--who have contributed to much to the creation and the preservation of our constitutional American freedoms.
