Shower Honors Mks Mary Xye Mrs. Wayne Dixon was hostess at a miscellaneous bridal shower for Miss Rita Hunter, held at the Legion home recently, with about thirty-five guests in attendance from Chicago and McHenry. Miss Hunter, of Chicago, will become the bride of Richard Adams of McHenry on May 14 at a nuptial Mass at St. Christina's church, Chicago. ATTEND GOLDEN WEDDING Mr, and Mrs. Joseph E'tten and son, Joe, attended a golden wedding anniversary in the Sherman Park fieldhouse, Chicago, Saturday, honoring Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Swain, aunt and uncle of Mrs. Etten. One of the guests present was Bishop Ne- | vin Hayes, Carmelite missionary father from S}cuani, Peru, South America, nephew of Mr. Swain. Charles (Chieky) Sales, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sates of McCuilom Lake, became a bridegroom on Saturday, when Me married his childhood sweetheart, the former Miss Canoline Mollies of Chicago. She is the daughter of Mi's. Josephine Mellies. The vows were .exchanged at St. Clares De Monte Fitflco church in" that city, with the Rev. Father Fenton officiating at the .1 p.m. ceremony. The church Was decoi^ted. with white floral bouquets at the altar. The lovely young bride was charging in a gown of white silk organza with a row point lace panel, a short train of lace and silk organza which was later held up by small buttons for dancing length, and a sweetheart neckline. She wore pearl earrings and necklace from Japan which were gifts from ther bridegroom-to-be while he was stationed in the Island. Her bridal bouquet was fashioned of white roses and hyacinth blossoms, and a large white orchid in the center which was later removed and used on her travelling suit. The maid of honor was Miss Nancy Antonnacci of Chicago and the bridesmaids were Miss Beverly Kesper and Miss Diane Nauman, also of Chicago. The girls wen* lovely in champagne collared silk shantung sheaths, with matching accessories and carried purple French lilacs. One brother erf the groom, James Sales of Cooney Heights, McHenry, served as best man while his two other brothers, Robert of Arlington Heights and John (Jack) of Waukegan servfed as groomsmen. The bride's mother chose a Navy blue shantung and satin sheath and wore white accessories and a white carnation Corsage. The rnother of the groom, Mris. Irene Sales, selected a taupe gfrey nylon lace over a rose taffeta slip, street length, had rose colored accessories and was adorned with a pink carnation corsage. The reception for the bride and groom was held at Ray Colombo's in Evergreen Park at 7:80 p.m., with dinner and dancing for the wedding gUests. For her western honeymoon trip, the bride chose a hyacinth blue suit, white accessories, and the white orchid from her bridal bouquet. After a ten day journey, the newly married couple will reside in Wheeling. This new Mrs. Sales was a <$> Thursday/ May 5/ 1960 graduate of Gage Park high school, class of '56. Mr. Sales was a graduate of McHenry high school, also class of *56. He entered the Army in the engineer corps and served for eighteen months in Korea. He returned to West Point, N Y., and was discharged in August of 1959. A miscellaneous bridal shower held Friday, April 29, at the home of Mrs. William Tonyan, Jr., in Edgebrook Heights honored Miss Mary Nye. Co-hostesses were Mrs. William Tonyan and Mrs. Robert Wohnrade. Bridal games were played, after which the guests enjoyed lunch from a serving table decorated attractively by Mrs. ^ James Althoff, featuring a centerpiece of bride and flower girl cakes. A dessert luncheon was served. Guests included seventeen classmates and relatives. Miss Nye will become the bride of Lt. Craig Baldwin on June 11 at St. Mary's Catholic church. She will be assisted by Mrs. C. W. Klontz, Mrs. R. M. Fleming, .Mrs. George Stilling, Mrs. Joseph X. Wayne, Mrs. Walter Carey, Mrs. George Cole, Mrs. F. E. Covalt, Si'.. Mi's. Fred Heide and Mrs. Albert Barbian. Entertainment will feature Dorofhy Christman with humorous characterizations. She has charmed the Woman's club audience in her previous appearance. The slate of officers for the 1960-1961 year will be presented by the nominating committee at the conclusion of the meeting, and the terms of all new officers will commence at tbe adjournment of the meeting. They were married in a double rihg rite. The dress was styled with fitted bodice, >coop neckline of sequins, and '•ap sleeves. Miss Peggy Thurlwell, sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor, wearing a ballerina length dress of green, flowered nylon chiffon. She had a match- 'ng band of teardrop leaves with an all-around scoop veil. Her colonial bouquet was sim- 'lar to that of the bride, in pink md white, surrounded by ?reen veiling. Mrs. Daniel Thurlwell of Cooney Heights and Miss Donia Mae King, a friend, acted is bridesmaids, -the former attired in yellow and the latter in pink. Both carried bouquets of carnations and roses in colors tp match their dresses. Roman Miller, brother of the groom, served as best man and groomsmen were Donald Miller, another brother, and <0bd Schaefer of Johnsb u r g, a friend. At 5 o'clock, supper wus served to 250 guests, followed by a - reception. The couple r left later on a trip to Canaria and upon their return will reside in an apartment in McHenry. . . Both the bride and grSmi are graduates of the McHenry high school. She is employed^ at National Tea Co., and he at Tonyan Construction Co.
