Earl Walsh City Clerk Little League The Little League rosters, as selected at the annual draft, are'listed on this page. Major League managers may release players up to five, days before the first scheduled game, which makes it important that a player attend all practice sessions. Minor League players would be selected to replace released players on the major league rosters. The McHenry Little League is set up to handle 180 players, with rosters of fifteen boys on each of six major and six minor league teams. The registration was so heavy this year that an eight year old league has been formed. All eight year olds will compete in this league at the start of the season. Approximately three weeks after the start of the season, the more advanced eight year olds will be brought up to complete the minor league rosters. ' -ft"- cannot be included in the Little League, seme of the regulations are published. Area Regulations A league area must be determined with a map of the area submitted to National Little League Headquarters for approval. This area cannot include a population of more than 15,000 people. This explains why certain areas in the community must be excluded from the league. A boy that starts his major league career may complete his elgibility with that league even though he moves out of the territory, or if the territory is changed. McHenry Little League wishes any boy between the ages of 8 and 12, who is interested in baseball, Could play Little League. ^ In this regard the league officers will welcome the opportunity to assist any neighboring groups in organizing a league. The rules provide that no team can have more than 6 twelve year old players, no more than 5 eleven year olds, and must have at feast 4 boys ten years or younger. This rule explains \yhy some younger boys make the majors, while older boys may igmai^i in the minors. It also insures league balance while rewarding younger players with ope than average ability. Each boy has JtVe years of little league eligibilty, from the time he is eight through twelve. A boy's league age is the age he attains prior to August 1, an example being a boy Page Flvi For information of those who may not understand why j born Jifly 31, 1948 would be 12 ac- all the boys in the community | years old, while a boy born McHENRY LITTLE LEAGUE Fred J.
