Sunday was so nice it inspired a drive to Hayward, Wis. On Mother's Day the Lindemans were visited by Bob's Aunt Lily and Uncle Charlie Gersdorf and his sister, Mrs. Bertie Henkle. On Saturday, May 14, Pat Have You Met Grace Goffo and her daughter. Carol? They live at 307 Johnsburg Road. Grace is a golf enthusiast and enjoys swimming. While indoors she does some leather crafting and decorative work on aluminum traj's. She is presently employed in Johnsburg. Her daughter. Carol, is well known in McHenry both through school and through her employment at the McHenry hospital. She does fashion modeling in Chicago and plans to teach children to model. The Woodburys reside at 143 Manor. Fred is employed in Skokie, and he enjoys bowling for relaxation. Doris or 'Pam' is an avid card player and is discovering the joys of gardening. Their Son. In the preliminaries, there were fifteen guards and ten were selected for the finals at night. The local group placed tenth in the afternoon contest With a score of 69.2 and the same in the finals with a score of 72.05. The Rockford Phantomettes were first with a score of 92.025 and the Norwood Park Imperials were second with 91.95. His numerous friends in and around McHenry will no doubt 1 be pleased to learn that Vrof. A. E. Nye, for several years head of our school system, has been re-engaged as principal of the Coal City township high school with a fifty per cent increase in salary. > MemBPrs of the West Side Card dub made their annual trip to Chicago Wednesday of this week. When the University of Illinois opened last fall it had enrolled as a freshman a shy, bright-eyed girl from McHenry county who had come to study home economics. She was Ellen Walsh, who had finished at the state fair school with the highest average of 98^ per cent and was attending the university on one of the scholarships given by the farmers' institutes. A grade of 98% is nothing unusual for Ellen, because she began to receive such' gardes^ in high school, graduating, as . valedictorian of he* class. A beautiful rain commenced Monday nig$it and. most farmers are pleased, as it will soften the crust formed after so much rain. There has been lots of work to be dane on the small grain. The heavy rains sealed the grounds over so the grain could not get through.
