They wore surprised at the many different things that go on in a post office and how efficiently it is run. Trip to Washington for Ordination Richard Fredrick was among the twenty-five relatives who went to Washington to be present when Kay's cousin, Nicholas .FreundVof Spring Grove,, was ordained. Home Bureau Meeting Our June meeting was held at the home of Irene May with the Home advisor present. We all£ure learned some tricks on how to do mending the fast and easy way. I don't think any of us enjoy mending especially overalls that never last from one wash to another. All paid up members will be contacted in regards to a night out for dinner which will take place on our regular meeting in July. Our chairman Pat SpijKller is visiting relations an^friends in Pennsylvania and -we hope she is enjoying her vacation. ^th* mil Surprise Visit The John Colomer family were surprised last week when their sailor son, Frank, came tmer sooner than expected for a leave ajid by doing so he was able to see his brother. June 12 at the Pistakee Highlands community center. Dr. Birger Dahl of Chicago Northern District will preside. The church committees will give , their reports and then election of officers for the coming year will be chosen. Rpgular services will be: Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and the morning worship at 11 a.m. Youth Fellowship will attend the sub-district rally at Fox River Grove from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p m. ' Harold King Trip to -Springfield Mrs. Daly helped chaperone a group of seventh and eighth grade students from, the Volo public school .on a trip to the state capit 61. The group travelled by train and spent two days downstate. While there they visited the state capitol building, the museum and Lincoln's home. Later they travelled to New Salem | where Lincoln w orked and j lived. Billy, although not in I either seventh or eighth grade. : accompanied His mother. They ibolh agree that the trip was i well worth taking. [ Neighbors Plan Party | The neighbors along Santa : Barbara rond ha^e been meet- | ing as previously reported, to i clean lots for a place for the children to play in. As the finishing of this project draws near, the neighbors have decid- I ed to have a party to celebrate ! the completion. This party willbe for those that have been working. Many of the youths of I the village are graduating from I the McHenry schools. June 5 was the happy day for two of our junior citizens as thev They were Gene Bolda and Ben DeOicco. Anthony Bounauro graduated from St. Thomas in Crystal Lake. He is the son of Arigie and Tony of the local grocery store. After the graduation Mass they attended a breakfast for the graduates and their parents. June 9 is the day when the Junior high graduates. Those from Lakemoor who will graduate are Betty Becker, Carol Booster, LeRov "Chip" Cynowa, Judy Hamil. Tom Hamil, Elaine Godina. Davy Heckman, John Serio and Dave Winters. The following evening the high school holds commencement. Jim Brady. Jerry Foute, Virginia Gray, Don Kibbe, Roberta Neff, Barbara Nichplas, Angie Parrntore and Cherie Shappert are those who will 'gnuluate from here. On June 12 St. Mary's school has its graduation. Nate Lubke. and Ronnie Wagner are in that class. Congratulations to these voung people and their families. On the Sick List - One of our senior citizens is sick. She, is Mrs. Walter Buchwalter. Mrs. Buchwalter has been ill since early this spring. I know she would appreciate hearing from her friends. We all wish her the best of health soon! l'ony League Some of our boys are in the Pony League in McHenry. Lonnie Opalka and Nate Lubke are on the Sox team and Rickie Foss is on the Giants. I saw the first league game in which the Sox played. It was an exciting game and our boys played good ball. How about seeing more of their friends and neighbors at the games? See White Sox Some of the boys were delighted Saturday when they went into Chicago to see the | White Sox beat Kansas city. •The following boys went with Jlhe cub scout pack from the Methodist chu rch, D u a n e Brossman, Mike Dorsey. Robert Hosie and Darryl Whynot. Mrs. Dorsey was kind enough tn she all the boys transportation to and from McHenry where thev took a bus. They all enjoyed the day at the ball park. Some .leaders are interested in the flock; others, in the fleeee. Work on the Beach The work on the beach has progressed wonderfully. The children of the area are showing great enthusiasm towards the project. The logs from the shoreline have been removed. „ Birthday Wishes ' The Zabroski family celeb r a t e d t w o b i r t h d a y s t h i s month. First, Chuck celebrated his thirteenth on the first of June and then was followed four days later by his brother, Herbie. who celebrated his eleventh on the fifth. Around Town A neighborhood coo k-o u t took place at the Zabroski household. Those who attended the cook-out were the Beahler family, the Hanson family, the Hatch family and the Ptividis family. They all enjoyed the o u t d o o r c o o k i n g , a n d t h e friendly gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Norman celebrated their nineteenth wedding anniversary on May 29. Congratulations! The Daly family was in Norwood park over Memorial day visiting Mrs. Daly's sister. Ken Booster is home recuperating from the final exams. He has all summer to get iii condition to tackle the books back at Valparaiso. One of our summer residents is out for the summer already. She is Sallie Rains whose cottfge is on the corner of North Lake road and Santa Barbara road. It is nice to see her again after a long winter absence. Thank you all very much. for the great loss of, her grandmother. ^ Candlelight Ceremony Held On Friday. June 3, the Pioneer Girls held a candlelight ceremony welcoming new girls into the program. The new girls who were welcomed are the following: Lorry Beahler, Rita Bryan. Roberta Counley, Linda Charbonnier, Sally Dresdow, Linda Kommer. Susan Ljundy. Laurie Murry, Jane Pedraza, Patricia Riley and Judy Winston. The colonists are Reggie Heckman and Irma Pedraza. This organization is for girls from third grade through ^igh school. Ai the next meeting, which is Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. the girls will work on folklore badges and plan for a cook-out. Because the ' meetings are held at the Landmark school in McHeniw the group is in need of t transportation to and from McHenry. Girl Scout News On Saturday. June 11. the Brownies and Girl Scouts from Lakemoor and Lilymoor are going on a trip. The girls are to meet at the firehouse at noon. Grief in Village We were sad fo learn, of the death of Mrs. - Delia Ruhen, grandmother of Mrs. Margaret Beahler. .Mrs. Ruhen died Saturday. June 4. Our deepest sympathy goes to Mrs. Beahler No More Warnings In the past, warnings have been given to those car owners who do not have vehicle tags. This will not be done any more. Cars which do not have these tags will be given a ticket and fined. Has Accident Lakemoor's oldest citizen, Mrs. Marie Moe, met with a v e r y s e r i o u s a c c i d e n t l a s t Thursday in which she fell and broke her left arm and badly injured her right hand. Mrs. Moe is known to the whole community as "Grandma" Moe. Everyone is going to miss her walking up and down the roads with her shopping bag. This accident. If don't think, will keep her down very long. We sincerely hope that she will get over this and that She won't be ill much longer. We all miss her tremendously. I am. sure she would appreciate cards and visits from her friends She is at home. The best literature in the world is a paragraph in the home town paper about YOU.
