Thursday, June 23, 1969 Wonder Lake LAKE WATER DECLARED SAFE FOR SWIMMING -Tone Ducey According to a report from the advisory board, made by president Bill I.iedtke, the results of water tests taken June 5 by the marine committee of the organization show the lake to be safe for swimming, by health department standards. Bear in mind that a coliform count of less than 7,000 is corisidered safe for swimming. Coliform counts were as follows: Sunrise Ridge. 62; Wonder Center,,230; Hickory Falls. 230; Wonder Woods. 6.200; Shore Hill, 230; and Deep Spring Woods No. 1, 230. Tests of alternate beaches will be taken this week and results published as ,soon as they are received. ^ The marine committee reports that dye tests of all laKe front homes in every subdivision are progressing well. They wish to thank the people for the great cooperation they are • giving in this endeavor. WOTM Installation Mrs. Doris Crane will be installed as senior regent of the Woodstock chapter of the Women of the Moose Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. This is the first time a woman from our community has received this high honor. Nicholas Freund Mr. and Mrs. George Freund and family of Shore .Hills attended the first Mass sung by George's cousin. Father Nicholas Freund. at St. Peter's parish in Spring Grove. Assisting at the Solemn Mass were their son. Bob, as Mass server, and daughter, Carol, as bridesmaid. Country Art Fair Wonder Lake is' well represented at the Art Fair this year with the following people exhibiting: Anne Cox. Laferne Kuntz. Beatrice Liedtke, Claire Neilsen, Joyce Ries, Axel Raedel. Joyce §pecht. Elaine Spuehr and Martha Thompson. The fair is held this weekend at the McHenry Junior high school^starting at-2 p.m. Friday, and extending through Saturday and Sunday. The auction is Saturday night. Adult Dance If you appreciated the ice skating instruction the advisory board furnished the young people last winter, you can ?ssure the program continuing next winter. You can do this with no pain, in a very pleasant way. Just attend the dance Saturday. July 9, at the Legion hall in McHenry. Attend and bring your friends. Tickets at the door, from Bob Kiddell, or any member of the advisory board. Obituary i Condolence is expressed to • the family of Ray Gildemeister. Sr.. who died Friday morn- j ing following a two month illnes. o. He was born Nov. 31, 1906 in . Chicago and had been .a summer resident at the Lake for 10 years, and a year around resident for- the last five, living in Shore Hills. Services - were conducted Monday afternoon by the Rev. Burton Schroeder with burial in Memorial Park, Woodstock. Surviving besides his widow, Lucille, are two sons, Ray. Jr.. and Robert, a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Kaptain, and six grandchildren, all of Wonder Lake. Home Bureau Installs Officers The Ringwood unit of McHenry County Home Bureau met at the Wonder Lake home of Mrs. Ed Muchow. Roll call was answered by the ten members present on "outdoor meals". The new officers for the next two years were installed. They are Mrs. Dorothy McEachren. chairman; Mrs. Mardell Swanson,. vice-chairmin; Mrs. Anne Nagel, secretary; Mrs. Gertrude White, t r e a s u r e r ; M r s . S t e p h a n i e Waynne, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Ila Hogan, 4-H chairman. Mrs. Charles Kopp served as installing officer. Mrs. Muchow lit a candle as each officer was installed and presented with a corsage. The corsages were the handiwork of Mrs. Kopp. The members wished the new officers luck in their jobs. ! The Rev. James Vanderpool, pastor, announces with pleasure, the appointment of Rev. Aloysius J. Neuman, (newly ordained) as the assistant pastor for th& summer months. The sisters. Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary, have arrived and are busy making things ready for the opening of summer school, Monday, June 27. at 9 a.m. The next five weeks promise to be an interesting and enjoyable opportunity for all the youngsters. A "hundred thousand welcomes" to the good sis tors! Because of the arrival of Rev. Neumann there will be daily Mass at 8 a.m. (except Thursdaj ). and at 11:30 a.m. Sunday Masses will continue at 7:30, 9. 10:30. and 12. Confessions will he heard Saturday from 4 to 5 and 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. June 24, the Feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated. TraPAltar and Rosary penny social and bazaar takes place Saturday, June 25, in the parish hall from 1 through the evening. To encourage mother to bring the family, a luncheon for children will be for sale at very reasonable cost. This is a FUN event, with games and toys for youngsters, handiwork, k n i c k-k n a c k s, plants, homemade preserves, bread, cakes and pies for the adults. Nativity Lutheran Church News "Invitation to Serve" is the sermon topic Pastor Schroeder has chosen for Sunday. June 26, at the two services; 8 and 10:45 a.m. The Luther League will meet Sunday evening, June 26. at 7:30. All high school young people are welcome to all meetings and activities of the league. Next Sunday there will be a special program, and plans will be made for summer projects and outings. Friday. July 1, the vacation church school will have "Pare n t s N i g h t " s t a r t i n g w i t h "open house" at 7. The program and presentation of att e n d a n c e a n d e v a n g e l i s m awards will begin at 7:30. All parents of the children in the school are urged to attend to see and hear the work the young people have done in the past two weeks. (to see how many miles Dad walks in a day), and a light meter! Congratulations to sons and daughters of Wonder Lakers who have completed their college educations this June. Anne Lundborg, daughter of Mrs. Joe Lundborg. was graduated from Northern Illinois university with a degree in education and will teach at Harrison school next fall. Terry Pliner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pliner, received his B.S. in business administration from Carroll college. Ralph Sprague, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sprague, was graduated from Anderson college in Indiana with a major in math. Three girls left for Camp twelve days at girl scout camp, near Hanover, iil.
