They brought Janice, Renee and little Jerry home from their vacation in Milwaukee Janice's two nieces, Robin and Mrs. Lindeman is home from the Woodlawn hospital in Chicago where she was confined after suffering another heart attack. She was there a week. After leaving the hospital she spent two days with her daughter, Marilyn. Forrest Reindardt Jr., is also home from the hospital where he spent a few days too. Tom and Lois Mason entertained Mr. and Mrs. Haub and Chicago over the weekend. Anna Cohr's sister, Lena, and hubby, Leo Denner, from Iowa spent the weekend of the Fourth in the Highlands. This is their first visit here in three years. Joyce Heir was visited by her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanson from Chicago over the Fourth weekend. Don and Wanda DoBecki plan to spend some of their vacation with the children at the zoo, on picnics and visit the Museum of Science and Industry. They will spend one day visiting with Wanda's folks in Maywood. On July 10, Audrey and Don Morin entertained Don's relatives from Kankakee. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Smolinski have sold their home on Woodland avenue and will be leaving for Chicago in the near future. Many Highland residents attended the Fourth of July parade in Fox Lake. McHenry can be proud because the first prize for junior drum and bugle corps went to the Viscounts. Dogs? No, Cats! Your reporter has received word that cats are causing destruction and annoying the residents in the Woodland avenue area. They are in the garbage and destroying flower beds. The residents in the, area are hoping that their owners will try keeping, them on their own property. Welcome A most hearty welcome to Dean and Jackie Peterson who moved into their home at 221 Sunny avenue. They have four children, Cheryl. Je rane, Butchie and baby, Layne Charles. fish fry last Friday evening at the barn. Guests of the evening were the Woodstock Senior Girl Scouts. The fish were caught on the Scouts recent fishing trip to Wisconsin'and were prepared by Mrs. Crosdale, Mrs. Finger and Mrs. Pfingston. Skipper Ed Pfingsten and wife, Terry, were also there. r* Cub Scouts At the fishing contest held on June 29 a trophy was awarded to Ronnie Christensen for his catch. There were other winners but at this time your reporter was unable to get the other names. If you know who they are won't you call me so they can have a little recognition for their efforts. Legal Family Pet Dies Duke, the German shepherd dog belonging to Burt and Joyce Froney, died on the weekend of the Fourth. This is the third dog to die within a few weeks in the same area. It is possible that the dog was poisoned. Duke was always tied or watched if he was allowed to run free for a short time. The Froneys are heartsick over the loss of their pet. Let's hope that if someone is setting out poison for dogs that it doesn't find its way to some of the youngsters who roam the fields. Sea Scouts The Sea Scouts enjoyed a Birthdays and Anniversaries Happy eighth anniversary to Burt and Joyce Froney whq celebrated on June 29. Best wishes to friends, Shirley and Paul Johnson, who celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary on July I. On July 10' Art and Myrtle will chafk up another year of wedded bliss. This Saturday best wishes go to Grace and Forrest Reinr dardt on their anniversary; and to Mr. and Mrs. Schimpf the best of everything on their anniversary, July 15. Birthday wishes to Marge Waldin, who celebrated her birthday June 12; to Blanche Heafliger on her birthday, July 7; to Dolly Novotny and Dick Madock on July 12. Mount Hope Church Ken Fletcher and Ken Thoren, both members of the M.Y.F., attended the camp at Wesley Woods in Lake Geneva last week. Under the direction of Pastor Bob Stine a Couple club is being formed. This is for all married couples regardless of the ages. The first meeting will be this -Saturday evening, July 16. at 8:30 p.m. at the barn. The theme of the program will be 'A Square Round Ball* which means an evening of square dancing as well as regular dancing.
