AUG. 4 - By Clare Mueller, EV. 5-0558 - Officers of the McHenry Shores clivb have decided to call a special meeting, Thursday evening, Aug; 4, at the VFW club house. This meeting is being held to discuss the forthcoming Fun Fair scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13. Daisy Smith and Elmer Granso will be on hand for ticket returns. Assignments will be made to service the various games, food and beverage booths. So-o-o-o. come on out everybody and enjoy the airconditioned hall and- get in on the swing of things to help put this second annual Fun Fair over the top. Picnic Plans The Shores Social and -Athletic club will hold its annual family picnic on the beach, Sunday, Aug. 28. The beach was cleaned of rubbish "that had been thrown around on it. The Patellaro family, who live on that street,, did most of the work. They raked the beach to rid it of broken glass. Bobbie Smith volunteered his power mower and man power when he saw them struggling with an old hand mower^ Danny Levand and Buzz Basti helped finish up the cleaning on the beach. "Uncle" Stanley Patellaro repaired the broken swings that were on the beach. He replaced the broken chains and seats. The need for work' on the beach was emphasized previous to the job when many accidents occurred there because of the trash oflujjhe premises. Many of the children in the area have had cut feet due to the broken glass. Only last" week one child fell from the broken playground equipment and had his head split open. The whole community should be grateful to the Patellaros and the boys who helped them. The beach is a popular place in the summer and it is important that we keep them in a safe condition for the children of the community. Tuesday night, July 19, route 120 was the scene of an accident when little Richie Schiavone was involved in an auto accident. The boy, along with his parents, was visiting at the Burro home when the child slipped out of the house and into the highway. Richie was taken to the McHenry hospital where he received immediate attention. He had an eye injury and abrasions on the head and nose. Luckily he had no broken bones. We can all thank God that the accident wasn't more serious. Richie is now at home. get-together, fine refreshments and entertainment. On Vacation Ralph Bostler is away on vacation. The camporee was held this weekend on the campus of the Rockford college.
