p Twelve THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER McCullom Lake TWO YOUNG WOMEN BECOME BRIDES * ON SATURDAY Eve Levesque The first of two weddings on Saturday morning -- both at St. Patrick's church -- united Miss Joanne O'Halleran and Franklin Delano Branham of Kentucky at 10 a.m. services in the chapel. For her marriage, Miss O'Halleran wore a waltz length gown of white lace over white taffeta, with a finger tip veil. Her bouquet consisted of white carnations, baby mums and red tearoses. The bride's brother and wife, -Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth O'Halleran, served as matron-ofhonor and best man. For the occasion, Patricia chose a blue street length frock with matching accessories and carried a bouquet of white and pink carnations. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for the newlyweds was held at the home of the bride's sister arid husband. Mr. and Mrs. George Madden, in the village. The couple left for a short jaunt to Lake Geneva, and upon their return, they will reside in an apartment on Orchard Drive and Park View. The second lovely bride on Saturday was Miss Anita Sue Mass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mass, who became residents of the community only last week. Her bridegroom is Mr. Daniel McMahon of Elgin, the son of Mrs. Louise McMahon and the late Edward. They also were wed at St. Patrick's church with a full nuptial mass recited at 11:30 a.m. A reception for 250 guests was held at the Wing 'n Fin at 2 p.m. Details appear elsewhere in the Plaindealer. Our very best wishes to the two lovely young women and their handsome new husbands. huber is the only survivor. Our deepest sympathy to Irma who is especially saddened since her father was never able to meet his one4' grandson and two granddaughters, Michael, and the twins, Christine and Irm gard. Thursday, August 25, 1900 Public r Party The Cullom-Knoll association sends a cordial invitation to the community to attend the building fund party which will be held this Saturday night at Berenice and Whitey's, commencing at 8:30 p.m. Your hosts, of course, will be Betty and Frank Poledna and Louise and Ed Hammerstein. Refreshments will be served. Much fun is promised so why not plan to attend? son, Scotty, "blew in" to the community over the weekend and when they departed for home territory, Battle Creek, Mich., they took Elsie and Clayt Nelson back with them and also nephew. Ken. He has been spending the week with them. "Education for American Security" Above is the title of the course which will be offered at the Glenview Naval Air Station for five days -- from Aug. 29 through Sept. 2 -- and will be attended by president of the village, J. R. Levesque, who is also a Lt. Cmdr. in the Naval Reserve program. The five day school is "dedicaated to the reexamination of the principles of our American heritage, and to the exposure of International Communism." In the brochure which he received, it is stated that the material to be oeww-ed- w^neitesified and-«»e program has been opened to all interested citizens, including educators and students, clergy, business and industry leaders, and above all. to mothers and fathers. Anyone who is interested in attending any of the sessions -- morning, afternoon, or evening, may contact Mr. Levesque at EV. 5-4141. Such notables as Richard Arens, Director of the House Un-American Activities Committee, the Rev. Fredrick Becka, Marynoll Missionary priest, interned in Red China. The sessions should prove fascinating and will no doubt give much "food for thought". Condolences are Extended To Mrs. Irma Oberhuber who received news of the passing of her father, Alfred Grats, 78, on Aug. 15. He died on Aug. 10 in Kottbus, East Germany of a lingering illness. The letter was written by a dear friend with whom Irma has been corresponding.
