H.H.I'.O.A. Elections Changed Important by-law changes were approved at the regular monthly meeting of the Property Owners' association Monday evening, Aug. 15, at the Lutheran church in Island Lake. Nominations for the five offices and the seven directors will be made at the January meeting. A nominating committee will report, but nominations will also be taken from the floor. Election will be held in February; installation and annual corporation meeting will be held in March. In order that the entire subdivision be represented on the board, one director will be elected from each of five geographical units: two directors will serve at large. Community Picnic Everyone who attended the fhird annual community picnic at Shady Shores on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 14, will testify that a good time was had bv all. esoecially the children. The hit of the affair, especially with the little ones, seemed to be; the roller coaster "conveyor belt ride." The dart game and other attractions were also popular. Carpentier has revealed the details of the new Illinois license numbering system which will go into effect for passenger cars in 1961.' The new system is based on the recommendations of the college of engineering of the University of Illinois, which conducted the most thorough and exhaustive study of license numbering systems ever undertaken. The two-year study was made at Secretary Caiv pentier's request. Numbers with digits only will be retained from 1 through 999.999. Beyond that -- in other! words, instead of numbers in j the one, two and three millions-- the license number will be made up of two letters! followed by four digits, begin- j ning with AA 1000. j Letter-digit plates will'-, be j made up according to the following schedule: i The letter I, O and Q will j not be used on any plates. j With the exception of those j three letters, double letter pre- j fixes will be available from AA through PP, followed by four digits, from 1000 through 9999. Thereafter, two-letter prefixes will be available in any Combination r-- again omitting I, K and Q -- in which the first letter ?s A through K and the second tetter is A through Y. Numbers following those combinations will be 1000 through 9999.
