EDUCATION IN HOME THEME OF DEANERY MEETING Rev. Burwell Beddoes was host pastor to the seventy women who attended the open meeting of the McHenry Deanery Council of Catholic Women Sept. 28, at St. Thomas the Apostle .church, Crystal Lake. The Iheme of the meeting was "The Catholic Home -- Heart of Catholic Education", with The Rev. Thomas Monahan, assistant pastor of St. Peter's, Spring Grove, as guest speaker. Father Monahan dealt with "Growing Pains of American Catholic Education" and the main problems confronting Catholics because of the tremendous strides in increased enrollment, within recent years. Rev. Harold Nilges, McHenry deanery moderator, dealt with the "Apostelate of Education", citing. the role Catholic women can play in the diocesan- w i d e 'JLay Teacher- Aid Program". New Officers elected include: President, Mrs. Albert Wipper, Spring Grove, who was reelected for a two-year term; first vice-president, Mrs. Charles Cuda, McHenry; second vice-president, Mrs. Leonard Pawlikowski, McHenry; treasurer, Mrs. Angela Burden, Woodstock; recording secretary, Mrs. LeRoy Welter, McHenry; director-at large, Mrs. William Boetsch, Crystal Lake ON DEAN'S LIST .Martin K. After the business meeting, tray favors were made for the veterans at Downey hospital. Our membership drive is making fast progress. Be sure Jhat you send in your dues as soon as possible. If your husband, brother or son is a member of the American Legion, ypu are entitled to be a memoer of its auxiliary. It you Can't make it this month, repiember we entertain at Downey every first Thursday of each month. The McHenry County council will meet on Oct. 7 at the Woodstock Legion home. "Lightning" Tea Cakes lft cups flour-- (cake flour if you have it) % cup sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1i tsp. salt 3 tbsp. melted butter 1 egg ft cup milk ft tsp.'ltanilla Sift and mix dry ingredients. Make a "well'r in the center of mixture and pour in butter, egg, milk and vanilla. Stir all together and beat vigorously for two minutes. Fill well buttered muffin pans half full and bake fifteen minutes in moderate over„(350 degrees.) » PLAN RUMMAGE SALE The W.S.C.S. of the Ringwood Methodist church is planning a rummage sale for Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the church.
