Games furnished entertainment, with a buffet lunch served. The guest of honor was presented with many gifts for her new home. Miss Groh will be united in Marriage to Eugene Huff of McCullom Lake at St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg, on Oct. 22, with a reception following at the community hall. Honor Mrs. Thelen On 89th Birthday Mrs. Mary Thelen was guest of honor at a gathering planned by her daughter, Miss Anne Thelen, at her home in Johnsburg last Thursday eveni n g , t h e o c c a s i o n b e i n g h e r eighty-ninth birthday anniversary. Ladies I<eague Plans For Social A social event for the benefit of the McHenry hospital is being planned by the Lily Lake Ladies League of Lakemoor on Oct. 19. Court Joyce Kilmer Observes Anniversary Court Joyce KHmer, No. 573, of the Catholic Daughters of America, observed its fortieth anniversary last Thursday evening at the k. of C. hall. The party also honored i he charter members of the court. Of the fifteen living members, twelve were present to receive gifts during the social hour which was planned by Mrs. Madeleine Mayfield and Mrs. Ella Bus3 as cochairmen. ' A tasty lunch was 'served from a table centered with a decorated birthday cake. Waterman, formerly of Woodstock but a resident of Shan-gra-la rest home, south of McHenry. for the past seven y e a r s , o b s e r v e d her ninety-fifth birthday anniversary Tuesday of this week. Large Crowd Attends Pool Benefit Social A good sized crowd attended the bridge party at the Legion home last Sunday evening which was held for the benefit of the swimming pool fund. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Reihansperger won first prize, and Alvera Nye and Dorothy Loeffelholz were second. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ndck J. Tabor of Lakewood s u b d i v i s i o n w h i l e t h e groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert R. Horn, Sr., of Wonder Lake. The candlelight service at 4:30 ip.m., was conducted by the Rev". Burton Schroeder and it was the first formal ceremony in the newly constructed church. "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Wedding Prayer" were sung by a sorority sdster of the bride, $Tiss Ann Lundborg of Wonder Lake. Two altar, candles and two candelabra cast a soft glow and the altar vases filled with white and bronze mums completed the interior decorations. Miss Tabor was breathtaking in a gowh of white delustered satin with a smooth fitted basque bodice arid traditional long fitted sleeves. Her sabrina neckline was trimmed with alencon lace while the controlled bell skirt with long sweeping chapel train was caught in a modified bustle featuring two large cabbage roses. The matching cap of pleated satin was trimmed with tiny seed pearls and satin rosebuds and her triple tier French illusion veil was fingertip length. The bri'dal bouquet was exquisitely formed of white gardenias and ivy in cascade. Bridal attendants were Mrs. Telia Nardi Emanuel of Evanston, El., who served as matron- of-4ionor, and bridesmaids Ruth Tabor, sister of the bride, Penny Bock, briide^s cousin of Chicago and two junior brides-, maids, Nancy Tabar, also the bride's cousin and Cynthia Burgess, the groom's coUsin of Chicago. The lovely girls were identically gowned in royal blue delustered satin dresses with fitted cap sleeves and bell shaped skirts. Their matching coronets were surrounded with tiny pearls and blusher veils attached. Their high heeled slippers matched the gowns, and the girls wore white kid gloves and small pearl chokers. The jewelry was a gift of the bride. The bouquets were fashioned of pale -Jftllqw jvith bronzy button mums in cascade. Serving in the capacity of best man was Kent Burgess, c o u s i n o f t h e g r o o m , f r o m Chicago. Winn Davidson of Evanston, and Bill Wright of Wonder Lake were groomsmen. Approximately 300 guests gathered at .the Johnsburg Community hall following the ceremony for a buffet dinner of roast beef, baked ham and all the trimmings. The new Mrs. Horn is a graduate of McHenry high, '58, and also attended Northern Illinois university. Mr. Horn, a graduate of McHenry High, '57, went on to higher learning at both the University of Illinois and Northern. Residence Changes The Stanley Sweeney family moved last week from Huemann's subdivision to a home at 302 Clover street, Edgebrook Heights, which was vacated by the Richard Nelson family. The home at 303% Richmond road, vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Becker, is .now occupied by the Richard Wachters. Mr. and Mrs. John Mackinder and children have moved from the Lester Adams apartment at 513 W. Waukegan road to the Math N. Schmitt place on north Court street. * Mrs. William Doherty and son, Stevie, moved recently from one of the former Wattles apartments on Main street to the Bert Bienapfl home at 406 N. Court street, which she purchased. Learns Voting Procedure A discussion on correct procedure in marking ballots will be discussed before members of the Johnsburg P.T.A. when that organization meets Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. at the school. Speakers will be Mrs. George Alvary, Mrs. W. Ellick, Ernest Useman and Mrs. George Hoffman. The latter two represent the McHenry Rotary and the League of Women Voters, respectively. Rev. Fr. Eugene Parker officiated at the 11:30 o'clock nuptial rite. Earl Conway was soloist for the ceremony, with Mrs. Carl Weber at the organ. Bouquets of yellow and white flowers decorated the altars. The pretty bride selected a ballerina length dress of brocaded taffeta, princess style, with sfaort sleeves and sabrina neckline.
