McHenry Shores NOMINATIONS FOR SHORES CLUB OFFICERS SOUGHT By Clare Mueller EV. 5-0553 Vote We ^ople who were fortunate enough to be born in the United States sometimes take our heritage for granted. We don't exercise our privilege of voting for we are too busy doing something not nearly so important. God grant that we always have that privilege. Consider the Johansens -- they are both naturalized citizens, and with all the preparation of a 2 month trip to Europe they took the time to apply for absentee ballots to be cast in the Nov. 8 election. They are good Americans and proud of their adopted country. Are you a good American? Are you going to vote? Belated May we wish a belated happy birthday to one year old Ted Voight, Jr., on Oct. 9. Hi Neighbor We're down along the river today so let's Stop in and have one last visit with Elmer and Eleanor Granso at 201 Riverside Drive before they leave on their long postponed vacation to Florida and their search for a new homesite. The couple moved here to McHenry Shores from Cicero back in August of 1956 upon the retirement of Elmer who had served on the Cicero police force for 21 years. Mr. Granso has been quite active in the community by serving as a deputy and the Republican precinct committee captain. He belongs to r the SSAC and has always been active in the McHenry Shores club where at the present time he is chairman of the road committee. Elmer, with Fred Wetzel and the help of many others, was in charge of the recent Fun Fair. With all this activity handled in his spare time, Elmer works for the State of Illinois as a food inspector. Boating, fishing and golf fill in any time left over. Eleanor attended Morton high before she met Elmer and was active in the business world before moving out here. If not with her hubby on his many excursions, she enjoys her housework, cooking, baking and gardening.
