She is home now and her mother reports she is much quieter but doing real well. Johnsburg HOME. SCHOOL ASSOCIATION TO SPONSOR BAZAAR by Betty Hettermann Birthday Doings Master Clark Bierman enjoyed his sixth birthday on Nov. 26 with Janet Barle, Robbie and Davy Wickenkamp. Norbie Kwiatek. Larry and Billy Burns, Lance Kuhns, Janice and Eddie Pike and sister, Ronnie, and brother, Jeff. He was so pleased with his ice cream maker altho their refreshments didn't come from it. •Later in the day Grandma Leopold and Aunt Marion and Uncle Joe visited and also Grandma Bierman, all of Elgin. Scout News Troop 162 held its first court of honor Nov. 17, at the Landmark school. During the program Scoutmaster M a y n a r d DeVos presented the members of his committee. Among them was Chuck Messel, Sr., who is an assistant scoutmaster. Mr. LeVos also presented tenderfoot badges to Forrest Viita, Bill Bates and Greg Uhles. Chuck Messel and Allen Ralford received their second class badges. One of the newly appointed officials was Chuck Messel, Scribe. Meet Your Neighbor Welcome to OLD-TIMERS George and Brigitte Leone who live at 503 Willow Lane. They have lived in Lakeland Park for the past four years. George is originally from Chicago and BeBe came from Germany nine years ago and has been a citizen of America for two years. George is a processor for a food company and was in the service as a navyman at San Diego. George and BeBe met at a recreation center in Chicago. They were engaged three months and knew each other one year before they married. They now have a four srnd a half year old girl, Deborah Ann, who takes dancing, knd a boy. Michael George, 2% years old. Their hobbies are dancing, bowling and George tinkers with TV's. BeBe belongs to the Women's club. CARE OPENS ANNUAL DRIVE TO SEND FOOD Saturday ninht Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hahndorf were among the guests at a party in Des- Plaines at the Joseph Weretka home. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brushaber of 320 Bonner drive had a busy week for the middle of November. On Monday afternoon they visited Mrs. Lydia Paulus in Chicago. Wednesday she was a guest for lunch at Mrs. Deef's in Edgebrook Heights. Thursday they were guests for lunch at Mrs. Dula Maure in McHenry Shores. And Friday Mrs. Louise Johnson of Wonder Lake visited them for the day. Mr. and Mrs. John Behrendt of Lilymoor were Friday night guests of theirs. Holiday Beauty Mrs. Barb Meurer was Beginning at 1 o'clock next Sunday afternoon, St. John's Home and School association will hold its annual bazaar in the community club hall. The public is ° cordially Njinvited to attend this affair which will continue on through the early evening hours. Various booths will be set up to display articles that will be on sale at this.., time. Home baked goods, religious articles white elephant items, jewelery and just about anything else you can think of will be' available at the bazaar. Games will be set up for the amusement of the younger set. Why not plan on attending the bazaar next Sunday! At the last pack meeting, badges and awards were presented to the following cub scouts, Arvin Jensen of Den 8 received a 1 year service pin, 1 year attendance pin, a gold arrow and a silver arrow. John Johnston, Rory Marshall and Jim SCott all of Den 8 received the bobcat badges. Five scouts erf Den 9 also received their bobcat badges. They were: James Ulich, Tommy Wakitsch, Mike Freund, Warren Smith and John Dehn. New Addition Mr. and Mrs. "Si" Meyers welcomed a son weighing over seven pounds on Nov. 20 at the Woodstock hospital. Cub Scout News The Cub-' Scouts of Pack 454, Dens 8 syid are now split into two groups. Den 8 meets at the hoiipg of Millie Scott while Den 9 will hold its meetings at Dorothy Adams' home. Both troops Will meet on Tuesdays after school. The pack meetings are now hhetf^dd ijti the Jives in Coulterville. public school every third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m Long Time Resident Passes On Our community was saddened by the untimely death of Mrs. Rose Schmitt last week. Mrs. Schmitt passes, away at the Woodstock hospital where she was a patient for- several days. She was laid to rest last Saturday morning following the 10 o'clock Mass at St. John's church. Besides her husband, John, two children, William of Denver, Colo, arid Mi's. Dolores Overton of McHenry, four grandchildren and two brothers also survive. We all join in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the surviving members. Around the Town Richard Dehn and "yours truly" were in Chicago recently to visit our mother who made her third trip back to the hospital since June. Mom returned home on Thanksgiving Day and we hope this is the end of her troubles. Belated birthday wishes to Bobby Wakitsch who celebrated birthday number five on Nov. 23. Marge and "Pete" Peterson entertained their parents for the day on Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Hettermann and Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Hettermann visited Paul Boyk in a Chicago hospital last Sunday. Paul suffered a heart attack earlier last week and is now recuperating. The Harry Freund family s p e n t s e v e r a l d a y s o v e r Thanksgiving visiting her relaat St; Therese's nursing school to spend the recent holiday with their respective families. Visitors at the Arnold Michels home for Thanksgiving and over last weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond BUgner of Fostoria, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. George Logsdon of Alvada, Ohio. Guests in the Ed. Hettermann home for Thanksgiving Day supper were: Mrs. Helen Hettermann, the families- of Gerry and J i m Hettermann and John Herdrich, Gerry Stilling, Tom Keenan, Miss Joy Fairchild, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Dowe and daughter. * Mr. and Bill May and sons, Mrs. Catherine Freund, and the Richard Dehn family were holiday guests in the Art Kattner home in Spring GrOve last week. Janice Wakitsch and Georgette Miller left their studies Welcomes Granddaughter Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller are elated over the arrival of their first granddaughter. Their son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara, welcomed the young Miss at the Woodstock hospital on Nov. 26. Sandra Lee weighed 8 pounds at birth. Her big brother, Jimmy, who is five,, is just so happy about having a sister. Congratulations to all! Brownie and Girl Scout News Troop 378 held no meeting last week because of illness. At their meeting of Nov. 21, troop 408 worked on their badges. Refreshments for this meeting was supplied by Virginia Karls. The troop is planning to make Christmas gifts for the patients at the Villa Rest Home. SERVICE NEWS Marine Lance Cplr^ Warren L. Andrews, son of Mrs. Margaret M. Andrews of Pistakee Hills, was promoted to present rank recently while serving with the Third Marine Air Wing at the El Toro Marine corps air station, Santa Ana, Calif. TALENT OF AREA THEATER GROUP LAUDED LOCALLY Two polished performances of "The Girls in 509", given recently sent several hundred McHenry theatergoers home in a rollicking frame of mii^P The Crystal Lake Players played the hilarious comedy to the hilt during the matinee and evening performances held' as benefits for the McHenry hospital building fund. '• "If anyone calls the Players 'an amateur group', they must have regarded John Barrymore as merely an usher", one member of the, audience said, e^oing the sentiments of others who attended the play.
