According to the reports, no responsible adult has tested the lake to see if the ice was thick enough for skating -- but- the kids were venturing as far as th<vother side! rarents are asked to wai their children NOT to use lake for skating until such tijffie as the ice is thick enough and that will take a long spell] of cold weather. Only member missing was son, Anthony, who is stationed in Norfolk, Va. He has been Navy for slightly more han a year. His family and he are hoping that he can obtain leave for Christmas in order to meet his youngest brother. Ladies Will Meet Tonight The Ladies of the Lake will hold their regularly scheduled business meeting tonight (1% rsday) at 8 p.m. in the-j~Q] beaehhouse. At this time, a complete report of the "fpwl frolic" will be forthcoming. The club is gaining strength with every meeting and we want to continue our progress. Council Quotes At the last meeting of the village president and the trustees, Commissioner of Roads Don Parenti reported that his committee recommended that the ordinance banning parking on the streets during the winter months to facilitate snow plowing nqt be adopted into ouq| local code. The meeting was held on Monday, Nov. 28. Present at the meeting also were W. A. Rakow and son, Jim. our village engineers. They answered questions concerning the work done on Orchard Drive. Santa's Visit is Drawing Near Another bulletin was received from the North Pole assuring Mrs. Lottie Piotrowski that Santa Claus is going to keep his date with the kiddies in the village. He will deposit his "loot" with Lottie and it will be distributed on Christmas Eve. 11 of us were completely captivated with him and are hoping to have him as a guest in the near future. Jake met Father Norbert when the two of them were attending the special Security sessions at Glenview Naval air station some months ago. In fact. Father Norbert was assigned to Jake's class, and the two enjoyed many good conversations. Gerry Jensen and Theresa Huska. Dorothy served cake and coffee to the women. Surgical < Patient Mrs. Gertrude Maxwell is home again and convalescing nicely, after her recent surgical bout. She was a patient at the McClary Thornton Manor hospital in Excelsior Springs, Mo., for two and one half weeks. She returned home on Friday of last week. On Wednesday night, Brend Krebs of Chicago paid a $25 fine for having ficitious state license plates as he drove in McHenry.
