^NPag* Ywelvo THE McHENHY PLAINDEALER " . 0 Thursday, January 5, WK McCullom Lake WARM WEATHER WEDDINGS FOR TWO YOUNG BELLES Eve Levesque FIRST in her family of four girls and two lads to wed is Miss Kaaren Judythe Olsen of 901 John street in McHemy. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olsen. Kaaren will waltz down the aisle of St. Mary's church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, to join her waiting bridegroom, Mr. Charles Gies. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gies of Riverside Drive. For a Christmas gift, future mother-in-law Shirley, presented the young couple with a most unusual "coyer". It is for their new home, and a most useful! object Their wedding should be ver^y well attended by members of both families. The &oung lady is the granddaughter of Mr. Theodor Olson and the late Ingeborg of Fountain Lane in the village, and the rest of the Olsen clan abounds in "these hyar parts". LAST in her family to leave "the Nest" is Miss June Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jensen, Sr., of Knollwood Drive. She is the youngest of three children. June will exchange vows with Mr. Kirby Fish, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Fish of Westby, Wis., some time in June. No other wedding details are available at this time. Both future brides are graduates of the class of June '60, McHenry high school and both are employed in Crystal Lake. Very best wishes to these four fine young people. With every good wish, I am, Sincerely, John F. Kennedy." " A m o n g h e r s o u v e n i r s " Lyhne also has a message from President Eisenhower, via his secretary, and a letter from Mr. Joe Kelly who was master of ceremonies of the Totem Pole Club which appears on Channel 11. Her letter was r e a d on t h a t p r o g r a m w h e n she wished for good health for her grandmother. Keep writing, Lynne, and some day your collection may be worth money- Family Reunion on Second Day of Christmas A tradition in their family for some ten years is the congregating of the Shigley clan and this year it "fell to" Mr. and Mrs. Gene of Hickory Drive to wine and dine the group. When the "roll was called" eldest brother George and wife Irene were marked absent. Gene's twin brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Francis and two young ones; Jim and Winnie and their four; and Bert and Jane and two wee ones were counted in the present column. Patriarch of the family, father James was also on hand. Big surprise was the visit from Aunt Vivian Grow, a "young" woman of 78 winters who "trained^ in from Logansport for the outstanding event. Providing sustenance for the tribe was done via the buffet table. This item provides a comical twist: Because of the nature "of" the Shigley canine, Mrs. Elsie Nelson, a close neighbor was prevailed upon to "dogsit" and she is no fond lover at the beasts! Available--But, Not Due Mrs. Emma Pyritz, village clerk, ^announces that the vehicle stickers for 1961 are now available but not due. Reminders to purchase same "will appear from time to time as the deadline approaches. Why not avoid the rush and pay a visit to Emma now? Johnsburg G.O.F. BOWUNG PARTY ENTRIES CLOSE JAN. 10 Betty Hettermann Victims of Circumstances At the time that Walter Scarbrough (Leo's brother) was confined to Hines Veterans' hospital, his 18 year old son inadvertently became a patient at the American hospital in Chicago. Mr. Scarbrough was receiving treatment for a s e r v i c e - c o n n e c t e d d i s a b i l i t y while his son was involved in an auto accident outside of Elgin. He "tangled" with a truck and was taken to Sherman hospital and then transferred. George was returning home after undergoing a physical examination in connection with a job. Wild Game Christmas Feast Son Kenneth, sired by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nelson, provided the mainstay of the holiday dinner for his family. Not to be left out of the sumptuous repast, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, motored out from the city for the occasion and paused for an extra day.
