Women's Club This is to remind all members of the Women's club of the meeting on Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. at the barn. This month's activities will be a 'social hour. Sympathy My deepest sympathy to Ruth Lemmons who lost her nytfrer on, Jan- 9, Ifei" mptjtjer, Elizabeth Meyer, was 73 years old and suffered a heart attack in her home in Venetian village. She was laid to rest last Thursday in St. Joseph cemetery in Chicago. Six year old Mike O'Mally spent four days last week in the McHenry hospital. He was suffering from virus pneumonia and an ear infection. 1 hope you are feeling better Mike. Roy Snell was visiting in the Highlands for a day last week. He visited with his daughter, Grace Reinhardt, and then returned to Jowa where he is spending tlje winter. Pat and Ron Jackson at tended the wedding of their friend, Andy Kurka, last Saturday in Chicago. Geri Moore's mother was in McHenry hospital last week for observation. Don and Audrey spent last Thursday visiting their families in Chicago. John and Hila Heineman returned last Wednesday from Missouri. They were there since Jan. 2 visiting with Hila's aunt. Mrs. Agnes Wroblewski took a three day vacation and visited her daughter, H. Zyburt, in Morton Grove last week. Congratulations to Don Dobecki who will have another birthday on Jan. 31. He will celebrate it on the twentyei£ hih with wife Wanda and Carla and Jim Bales. They are planning to see a stage play in Chicago. Moreth, Vi Sellable, " L orraine Lindemann and La- Verne Madock were luncheon guests last Thursday at the home of Nellie Bergener in Johnsburg. Pat Jackson spent last Sunday visiting a few former school chums in DesPlaines. Your reporter and hubby, Dick, along with our good friends, Jim and Sue Barrett, spent last Saturday visiting with Gladys and Wally Haas in Elk Grove village. I am pleased to report that Roy Rayner was able to return to work after his recent automobile accident. Jill Reilly had minor surgery on her foot in McHenry hospi-' tal on Jan. 7. Audrey Misavice will entertain her peker club tomorrow evening in her home. Other poker playing gals are Dee Gregg, Pat Jackson, Meryl Fletcher, Toots Spankuch, Marie Schlick and Ann Szyplebaurm The Brownies had a skating party Jast week on the channel, behind the Hayner home.. Dee Gregg paid a visit to her aunt last week at the Edgewater hospital. A few more birthdays have come to my attention. Belated wishes go to Dee Gregg who chalked up another year on Jan. 8 ^.and Jan. 10, Adele Hauck and Lorraine Ullo celebrated their birthdays. Celebrating birthdays at the end of the month will be Dolly Novotny on Jan. 29 and Joe Ullo on Jan. 26. Early or late, happy birthday anyway. Word has been received by your reporter that some residents are throwing their garbage out into their back yards and not even caring enough to put it into containers. This is happening in the Oak and John street area. This is an unhealthy as well as unsightly condition and should be stopped ^immediately. There are times when we must look beyond our own property a"d consider the rights of our neighbors. They have to look at the me<s too and it certainly isn't a pleas-1 ant sieht. Cerebral Palsy Drive Held Mrs. Robert VanZevern, chairman of the cerebral palsy j drive for Ihe Highlands, and ; her helpers, covered the High- j lands last Sunday afternoon. Making a house to house canvass with Marilyn were Mrs. j Laverne Madock, Darlene Nee- Cub Scout News A pack meeting was held at the barn on Jan. 11. Mr. Zenner read the letter of appreciation from the Woodstock Childrens* Home for the socks that were delivered to them from the December pack meeting. Sixty-nine pairs of stretch socks were collected. A boy from each den went along with Mr. Z e n n e r w h e n t h e y w e r e d e l i v e r e d . T h e y w e r e Bob Finger, Jim Haney, Paul Farwell, Ted Jost-, Ted Finger and Tom Healy. Last night the boys each gave a short talk on what they observed at the home. A roller skating party will be held on Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 in the afternoon at the McHenry rink. Each scout attending mustbe with at least one parent. The blue and gold dinner is being planned for Feb. 26 at t h e J o h n s b u r g C o m m u n i t y hall. Last Thursday evening Mr. Zenner and the den leaders attended the round table in Woodstock. This was held to find out the details about the coming Scoutarama. A man is needed to take over the Weblow den. Mr. Emmerich can no longer work with the boys. So there are six anxious and willing boys waiting for a leader. They want very much to keep busy with their handicraft and outings. Awards were next on the agenda. Wolf badges were awarded to Chuck Weiss, Mark Smith and Charles Lima; Gold Arrows to Russell Rudolph, Jeff Misavice and Warren Heir; Silver Arrows to Russell Rudolph and Warren Heir; ^Jood Star to Tom Mason. Congratulations to all the» boys who worked hard to receive these awards. Scout registration cards ... handed out and then much the delight of all the boys, freshments were served. Remember parents, if your son is planning to attend the roller skating party this ^Sunday he must be accompanied by you. That's It ^ For now.
