They brought another birthday cake and some nice gifts for young Sheila. Condolences , We extend our sympathy to "Alice and Flay Bieschke on the death of her brother-in-law, .foe Nolte, of Island Lake, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident, Wednesday, Jan. -18. Sympathy is also extofjded to LaVerne and Joe Jost cpi the death of her uncle, "Arthur "Bernard Benson, of Franklin Park who passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 17. A Birthday Party : Loretta and Bob Mikkelser weire hosts at a party. Saturday, Jan. 14, honoring their si>n, Rickey> on his seventh birthday. Their gift to Rickey was a big new bicycle and he is certainly a proud young man. The children played^ games and ate sandwiches, potato chips, pretzels, birthday ctke, ice cream and pop. Those helping Rickey celebrate were Reed Bales, Pamela Boegcr, Mark Fingsten, Tommy Fry. Jimmie Hurkes, Teddy Jost, J o h n n y L a k o w s k e . J i m m i e Phillips, Judy, Mary. Billy and Stan Walc7.ynski, Joe Zenner, Becky Zetterberg and Mickey Mikkelsen. The small fry all agreed that it was a wonderful party. An Indiana Trip Lu and Jack Davis and children, Cathy and Johnny, drove to Muneie, Ind., to visit Jack's uncle, Frank Davi.s who hac been very ill, and Mrs. Davis. They^spent last weekend there and Lu reports that Uncle Frank was much improved when they departed. Visitors" Helen and Keith Wegner were happy to have his mother, Mrs. Verna Wegner, and younger brother, Harvey, of Merrill, Wis., for a weekend visit recently. Vacation Bud Kennebeck decided to take a week's vacation so,he and Carol bundled up Karen and Allan and off they went to spend the weekend with Carol's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Gamperl, in Chicago. Back home again Bud took life easy while Carol baked his favorite coffee cake. Sick List Bsrnadine Grist is still nursing her cuts, bruises and "aching bones" after her recent accident. Alice Janicki's mother, Mrs. Huldah Krane, has been in St. Francis hospital in Evanston for the past two weeks. She had a very serious operation and we are glad to report that she is recovering very rapidly. Millie Kropf's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Becvar, of Chicago came out one day recently to cheer Millie while she is ill.' She has been ailin' much too long arid we hope she will soon be her energetic self again. Five year old Terri Radtke has recently- recovered from the measles. Now Mother Ann is waiting for the other three children to bloom out. A Pleasant Day LaVerne and Kelly Noah and their four children spent a very enjoyable day recently with their friends, Sandra and Dick Powers, in Villas Park. They especially enjoyetlbhe movies of the Powers recenK^acation in Florida. Lucky Lil We received a nice letter from Lil Jensen who is visiting her son, Bud, his wife, Mabel and grandsons, Kenneth and Rusty, in California. She says she is having a grand 3visit anc1. the weather is lovely but she misses her many friends here and sends greetings to them all. A Combined Party Florence Kanter and Carol Lasnek held a combined birthday party Friday, Jan. 13, for Florence's 5 year old Stevie rid Carol's 6 year old Sheila, bout fifteen of the neighborhood small fry attended and e n j o y e d t h e m s e l v e s p l a y i n g fames and eating the two Birthday cakes. * Stevie also acquired a new Cousin the same day. A baby Boy was born to Florence's brother and his wife. j Sunday, Jan. 15, Sheila had inother party when her mammal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kohlmeyer, her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Old Friends Pat Spindler visited Kay Reece in Elgin recently and reports that Kay is nearly well again. Auxiliary News by Florence Svoboda The regular meeting of the V.F.W. auxiliary to Post 4600 was called to order by our president, Daisy Smith, Monday, Jan. 9, 8 p.m. Reports were read and business transacted. Wilma Aylward, hospital chairman, spoke of the successful Christmas party and president Daisy Smith and Wili Aylward spent a day at Downey helping with this Christmas party. There will be a V.F.W. auxiliary "patriotic conference at the Conrad Hilton Saturday, Feb. 18. This will be a luncheon conference and our auxiliary will send four delegates. - Ruth Ann Schoenholtz was awarded a 3 year nurses' scholarship and is in training at St. Charles hospital, Aurora. Ruth Ann is a member of our auxiliary and we all wish her well. We are happy to announce our treasurer, Shirley Cisewski, is the proud mother of a son born Wednesday, Jan. 11. at the Woodstock hospital. Our cabinets are to be installed. The main hall is to be panelled and the auxiliary will complete the drapes for the main hall. The membership drive is still going on and anyone eligible to join may do so by contacting Irene Stoller, membership chairman, EV. 5-0801. There will be a joint meeting of post and auxiliary Monday, Jan. 30, 8 p.m. A pot-luck supper is planned after the meeting. Please attend. Few habits are more catching than depending on others.
