The occasion for this "spur of the moment" jaunt to their "ol' home town" is a business trip for Jim's ^brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Mary Stevens, of Houston, Texas. Jim and Polly drove from here with Bob and Norma Garvin of Deep Lake who will visit relatives in Nashville also. Coming from the south with Harry and !Mary are her mother, Mrs. W. Stevenson, and their daughter. Harriette. They too, visited relatives and made their home base a motel mid-way between «41 the places to call on. This was an all-day affair with forty women representing many Girl Scout neighborhoods. , Cub Scouts Cub Scouts of Den 7, Pack 454, are all looking forward to the Blue and Gold supper to be held at the Johnsburg community club on Sunday, Feb. 19 This will be a "pot-luck" supper for all the cubbers and their parents. Each den will make centerpieces for the tables. The boys of Den 7, uftder the very capable leadership of Pat Bott, welcomed a new cubber in the person of Sherwood Palmer into their ranks recently. "from far and near, and all the good things connected with a party. Carol's brother, Bob Gamperl of Chicago, who is no stranger to Sunnyside Estates, underwent major surgery recently. This kept Bud and Carol busy with trips to Michael Reese hispital but they happily report now that he is doing just fine. j. Recuperating I Six year old Jimmy Fuqua fe recuperating at home after |ix days in St. Anthony's hos- Chicago, where he underwent surgery. Trying to keep a small boy quiet so that everything mends properly is no light task for any mother but with time, the great healer, he Will soon be good as new. Everyone wishes Jimmy a speedy recovery. Girl Scouts The girls of Troop 295. Johnsburg, are still busily preparing their Valentine gifts for tbeir moms. Can't tell what they are now but the project promises to be a pleasant surprise. Cookie hostess for last week's meeting was Carla Martin. Brownies The girls of Troop 150 have completed their gifts for Valentine's Day which they will give to their parents. A cute idea and one the parents will cherish. I'm sure. The Brownies made the imprint of their hands into a plaster of pans mold and inscribed their names and the date. Cookie hostess for this meeting was Doreen Patterson. Sick List Two young men have been on the sick list lately. Here's hoping that Ronnie Fiedler and Donnie Rose will soon get over it and be their healthful selves again. Much to Do There has been plenty of activity for the Kennebecks in the last couple of weeks. For Karen's third birthday a party was held in her honor witn grandparents, aunts and uncles Hopefuls The varsity of Johnsburg school, coached by Duane Andreas, is in third place in the conference. The boys are practicing very hard and their nex; goal is to win over Harrison of Wonder Lake, thus bring them to a tie for second place. The starting live are as follows: Miron Bentz, Tom Brill, Louis De Francisco, Bob Fowler and David Smith. Hoping to cheer the boys on to victory are cheerleaders, Jeanie Jo, Benoche, Nancy Coffmari, Nancy Fisheri Diane Johnson and Cheryl StElhlman. Bake Sale Residents are invited to attend a bake sale on Saturday, sponsored by the Women's auxiliary in Sunnyside. The doors will open at noon in the village hall and remain so as long as there is something to sell. Condolences We extend words of sympathy to the Schweiger and Banker families on the death of Bill's sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Schweiger, of Hammond, Ind., who passed away on Jan. 29. • Copy Cat Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Pat, Mike Maule came down with the measles too. Marty Plus One At this writing the new baby in the Jerry Olsen house hasn't been named but he had a good start in life weighing eight pounds, two ounces. He was born at 6:50 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30, at Woodstock Memorifd hospital. This is the third clfild for Jerry and Fran; their otfiers are thrge year old, Ernife and one £year old, Kim. On Jan. 30 the girls made valentine boxes. The date was set for investiture ceremony which was held on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 3 p.m. in the town hall. Parents of the Girl Scouts were invited and enjoyed the afternoon with them. Cake and coffee was served. • Club Meets Mrs. Peter May entertained members of her club at her home on Thursday afternoon.
