Later a midnight supper was served and enjoyed by all. "Squares" The square dancing group of the community had their fun on Saturday night, Feb. 3, at the community house. Those swinging their partners were Mary and Alf Heggeland, Delores and Glen Belohlavy, Arlene and Frank Bartos, Alice and Jim Quaiver, Lucille and Dick Jones, Dolores and Jerry Rogers, Joyce and Ron Braun, and Betty and Wally Laurence. The group enjoyed some of Dolores' spaghetti afterwards. Some of the names we received from St. Patrick's confirmation class Confirmation Events John Zimny had his confirmation at St. Patrick's church on Wednesday, Feb. 1. His sponsor was his uncle, Frank Zuiewski, from Niles. Other guests at the John Zimny home were his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Zimny, Of Chicago, Mr. Mrs. Ernest Zimny and Sol of 331 Shore Thrive, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Osmon and daughters, Jody and Barbara, of 315 Shore Drive, and Mrs. Frank Zujewski and family of Niles. Bernadette Clove was confirmed at St. Patrick's church. Her sponsor was Mrs. Hedy Siewert of Lakeland Shores. Refreshments were served later at the Robert Clove home. Miss Nancy Hahndorf received her confirmation at St. Patrick s church on Feb. 1. Her sponsor was Marleen Nalaski, a cousin. Other dinner guests at the Richard Hahndorf home were Mr. and Mrs. Steven Nolaski of Chicago. Her brother, Richard Hahndorf, also took part in the ceremony as tray bearer. Druml, grandparents, of Wonder Lake Luncheon Helen Straridquist was hostess at a luncheon at her home on Monday, Feb. 6. Attending were Dorothy Uttich and her mother, Mrs. Kloman, Mary Laurence, Betty Laurence, Pearl Reinhardt, Arlene Bartos and Petey Oakford. Bnishaber and Mr. and Mrs, John Behrendt of Lilymoor drove to Lake Geneva, Wis., to a gala birthday celebration for Mrs. Fr^nk Roloff in the Roloff home. They really enjoyed every minute from the southern- fried chicken to the homemade banana cream pie. Visitors Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Messel on Jan. 30, Sunday, were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kohler of Delavan, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kohler, Jr., and family of Delavan, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Braiske and family of Arlington Heights, in observance of their wedding anniversary. Juanita and Elmer Harris enjoyed a four-day visit last week from their daughter and grandson, Jane and Wayne McGue, of Maywood. Grace and Jeff Serio served lasagne for Sunday dinner to their weekend guests, Mary and Joe Gebbin and family of Chicago. Larry and Helen Strandquist were visited by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rose of Elmwood Park, Saturday. Rich and Rose Mary Vera and family were the guests of Pat and John Gelwicks Saturday evening. Cake and coffee were enjoyed along with pinochle. Juanita Harris' sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gray, dropped in early Sunday morning to wish JuarriCa a happy birthday and to visit for a few days. The Grays live in West Frankfort, 111., but just returned from Washington, D. C., where they attended the presidential inauguration and ball. Surprise Party Surprise it was for Bonnie Bucaro who was 16 years old Feb. 4 and Jim Becker who turned 17 years old on Feb. 6. A party was held at Marge Parisi's home in honor of Bonnie and Jim Saturday evening. Some of the guests were Betty. Becker, Sandy Bucaro, Elaine Piasecki, Sue D^hlquist, Adriene Ozog, Sharon Ozog, Mairane BorcHert, Marge Parisi, Pete Parisi, Linda Petecomb, John Parisi, JoLee LaCerba, Nina LaCerba, Josephine LaCerba, Gordy Rehberg, Gayle Parisi and Rose Slonina. Refreshments were served and then the group went midnight bowling. Meet Your Neighbor Welcome "New-Timers" Anthony and Carole Knor of 108 Glen Drive, Lakeland Shores. They moved from Chicago and have lived in their new home two months. The Knors have one sen, Steven Anthony, age 2, and the second addition is scheduled for the first part of March. Carole went to Parker school in Chicago and Anthony went to Lindbloom, also in Chicago. Carole met Anthony while working with his sister, and he was home on leave. He spent two years with the Air Force in Japan and is now a clerk for a food store in Crystal Lake. One of his many pleasures is building riiodel boats. Carole's hobby is bowling and she belongs to LPWC. HERE AND THERE IN BUSINESS RETIREMENT ENDS * CAREER Lloyd R. Haack, 105 Country Club Drive, McHenry, retired last Thursday from Public Service company after a thirty-five year career with the electric utility. He was work dispatcher in the overhead departrhent at Maywood at the time of his retirement. Haack, a resident of Maywood for thirty-four years before moving to McHenry, is a member of the Masonic order. He and his wife, Edna, have two sons. They are Ralph, a resident of Warrenville, and Herbert, who makes his home in Palm Dale, Calif. Morenz, 813 Ponca, McHenry, has returned home from three and one-half weeks additional technical study at his insurance firm's home office at Blooming ton, Illinois. ATTEND PREMIER George .and Adeline Pederson, as members of the Northwest Suburban Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Unit, No. 47, met with several hundred hairdressers at the Illinois "premier of spring and summer hair fashions", given by the state's official hair fashion committee, held in Big Rock, 111. They report that the new "honey bug" coiffure was reported to be the most popular new style for the next season. SMALL FLOWER SHOW FEATURE OF GARDEN MEETINGS An enthusiastic turn-out of forty-six. members and guests from McHenry, Crystal Lake, Harvard and Alden, as well£s Woodstock, attended the meeting of the Men's Garden Club of Woodstock last week Wednesday. A report was given on a new activity to be tried at monthly meetings to encourage competitve showing of members' growing efforts. It will operate like a small flower show.
